Battlefield Hardline Guide › Walkthrough

Episode 5: Gauntlet

For Episode 5, Mendoza is alone with no weapons or gadgets, for the moment. The first objective is to elude the search party and reach the water tower, which can be seen on the hill in the distance. It doesn’t matter how you get there, just stay out of the cones of vision and helicopter search lights to remain undetected.

Location: Unknown

Detective: Nicholas Mendoza

Partner: none

Case File(s):None

Evidence

Suspects with Warrants: none

Main Objective: Escape.

ObjectiveS:

Get to the Water Tower

Optional: Create a Distraction

Optional: Leave the Methlab

Meet Up with the Contact

Get to the Water Tower

Once you gain control of Mendoza, sprint across the lot ahead, following your fellow escapees. Separate from them as they head the wrong way and cut through the opening on the right. Cut through the backyards ahead, hopping the dividing fence. Turn left after the house and stop at the wagon. Two men search the street ahead. Wait for one to pass and the other to turn, then cut through the garage ahead.

Use the nearby ramp to clear the chain-link fence and pause before the next road. Wait for the vehicle to drive by before crossing the street. Quietly move behind the two officers and to the right of the house, hopping over the picket fence to reach the neighboring property.

Quickly take cover at the patio ahead as a member of the search party turns around and looks right over Mendoza. As the cone of vision passes, immediately step into the backyard and walk through the opening on the right. Two guys search the next property. Crouch behind the side-by-side chairs until the first man moves into the building. Walk up to the second and take him down from behind.

Hop the wall and step up to the concrete barrier on the left. Let the two guys pass as well as a helicopter with a searchlight. Hide in shadows to avoid the spotlight. If the spotlight catches you all nearby cops are alerted to your location. If caught, run and hide until the helicopter resumes its patrol. Once the chopper is gone, follow the officer to the squad car on the left. Perform a takedown on him and then grab the T62 CEW from the trunk.

Their Own Medicine

Steal a T62 CEW from the back of a police cruiser in Episode 5: Gauntlet.

T62 CEW

From this point on, the policemen drop a T62 CEW when taken down. This allows you to top off the gun’s ammo frequently. Don’t be afraid to use the weapon whenever trouble arises. It is better to take a guy down then be spotted.

Follow the fence line to the right and enter the adjacent backyard. An officer searches for fugitives ahead. Sneak around him or grab the easy points with a non-lethal takedown. Continue over the picket fence and around the playground equipment. Walk straight toward the lone man ahead and zap him.

Another fugitive surveys the situation ahead and decides to make a run for it. Take advantage of the distracted police and sprint across the street and through the small building. Continue up the ramp, through the storage container, and down the dirt road to the right.

At the dead end, climb over the concrete blocks and enter the first building.

Optional: Create a Distraction

Optional Objective

This objective is completely optional, but it does distract the search party and, more importantly, it earns an Achievement or Trophy.

Climb down the ladder on the right into the basement to find a meth lab. Around the corner to the right is a container of gas and straight ahead is a Bunsen burner. Interact with both to complete the optional objective.

Knock Knock

Blow up the meth lab in Episode 5: Gauntlet. Complete this optional objective to earn an Achievement or Trophy.

Leave the Methlab

Run up the staircase located opposite the gas, go through the left door, and exit out the garage door. Quickly, run through the opening in the wall, across the street, past the playground, and out onto another dirt road. Drop into the concrete tunnel to the right and crawl up the sewer pipe to a construction site. Run up the hill to reach the water tower.

Meet Up with the Contact

The final objective of Episode 5 is to get to the bottom of the hill without being spotted by the helicopters or officers. Run along the left edge until a helicopter is spotted ahead. Duck under the rock formation until the chopper passes on the other side. Follow the light to the right, zapping the police officer that gets in the way.

Cut between the trees, drop off the cliff, and duck under another rock shelter. When someone comes to investigate, lure him in with a shell casing and take him down or simply wait for him to move on. Move out toward the trailer on the right and then follow the left rock wall to a mine. Run through the tunnel to complete the episode.

Graceful Exit

Don’t get spotted in Episode 5: Gauntlet. Make it through the entire episode without being seen by the search party, including the helicopters. Restarting a checkpoint does not affect this Achievement. Be careful just before the mine. An officer stands to the right and even if he spots you as you escape into the shaft, the reward is spoiled.
