Battlefield Hardline Guide › Multiplayer Maps › Derailed

Overview

SWAT vs. Bangers

The industrial side of Los Angeles is home to many shady dealings. A criminal ring has set up shop in the warehouse and scrapyards, where they’re trying to make money from illegal doings.

Derailed is vast and industrial. Even from the air it is impossible to see everything, so it really depends on teamwork and good communication to win a match on any mode. This map is a classic Battlefield map with a wide range of uses for each and every class. Balance your squad and it won’t be a problem giving each of them a task to keep everyone alive and resupplied. Derailed is an all urban environment, catering to the inner police-chase driver in all players. Drive through the city or take a detour under the Tram Bridge and through the ravine. There are plenty of options when in a car; just don’t get caught at a dead end not knowing how to get out. Break out the stunt driver gadget and get to work on this high octane, large scale blast of a map.

Levolution

Driving under the Tram Bridge? Get past it quickly because directly above you is a large explosive train car ready to collapse the entire bridge burning anything in its vicinity. Just like any explosive item in Battlefield: Hardline, it only takes firing your weapon or a few explosives and the ready-made bomb is going to create a large display seen from across the map. Blowing up the bridge works well if your team is constantly getting pinned down by enemy sniper fire from here or if the other team is repeatedly driving their Hotwire vehicles under the bridge untouched. After the bridge is collapsed, the way is blocked and the vantage point gone, making this destructive environment piece a consciously tactical one.

Key Locations

The Construction Yard is a vastly open key location from the air, but once you’re on the ground it’s an entirely different story. Take cover behind silos, shipping containers, portable construction buildings, and all of the construction materials ready to take some fire. Keep to the nearest structure and don’t let the enemy see you.

This key location fits the locale of the industrial zone in Los Angeles perfectly because it includes all aspects. The Logistics Center is located in its own small gated compound equipped with shipping trucks, shipping containers, a large warehouse, and a ton of boxes that all provide excellent cover. This key location is central to Derailed so it is close to everything on the map.

The Scrapyard plays a small role in most modes on Derailed, but when it’s in play it is extremely complex and useful to those who get to know it well. Here is where an array of smashed cars stacked one on top of another serves as an excellent path to escape from incoming vehicles. The buildings are great strongholds that provide a deadly crossfire ambush spot.

The Train Depot is by far the largest key location on the map, surrounded by stationary vehicles, shipping containers, train cars, equipment, and a warehouse full of sharp turns and complex shooting lanes. This key location has it all and a great deal of it. Have someone constantly watching your back when traveling here. There’s always the chance of missing a bad guy or two.

The Tram Bridge is an extremely open key location and becomes crowded very quickly depending on where the objectives are. It is a prime location for vehicles attempting to cross to the other half of the map. Both directly on top of the bridge and below on the service walkway are perfect vantage points for professionals and enforcers equipped with sniper rifles and battle rifles.

Drop the train in the center to take away good sniping spots. —David Price, Weapon Designer
