Halo 5: Guardians Guide › Introduction › Cast

Fireteam Osiris

A newly formed squad of capable Spartan-IVs, Fireteam Osiris works together to complete difficult, dangerous, and politically sensitive missions for the UNSC. Initially called into duty to extract Dr. Catherine Halsey from the clutches of Jul ‘Mdama, Osiris is swept into a cascade of events that threaten humanity’s very survival when they’re tasked with the retrieval of an AWOL UNSC operative.

Spartan Locke

Role: Commander

Default Loadout: Battle Rifle, Magnum

Advantages: Artemis tracking system, fast thruster recharge, extra Frag Grenade, can issue orders

Fireteam Osiris’s level-headed leader, Spartan Jameson Locke commands his comrades with fearless determination. Formerly an acquisitions specialist in the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), Locke is an expert in tracking, asset recovery, and elimination of high-value targets. Intelligent and quick to solve complicated political and tactical situations, Locke finds himself in familiar territory when pursuing an AWOL UNSC operative behind enemy lines. Armed with an advanced Artemis tracking system and backed by a team of skilled and loyal Spartan-IVs, nothing will stop Spartan Locke from catching up to his quarry.

Holly Tanaka

Role: Technician

Default Loadout: DMR, Magnum

Advantages: Artemis tracking system, fast thruster recharge, improved motion sensor (visible while in Smart-Link)

A gifted gadget guru, Holly Tanaka serves as the engineering and electronics expert of Fireteam Osiris. Her keen mind and broad experience allow her to discern the function and operation of human, Covenant, and Forerunner devices and traps without the assistance of smart AI analysts. Tanaka has plenty of brawn to go along with her brains, expertly dispatching hostiles from afar with her powerful and accurate DMR.

Olympia Vale

Role: Anthropologist

Default Loadout: SMG, Plasma Pistol

Advantages: Artemis tracking system, fast thruster recharge, increased speed (movement only)

Olympia Vale serves as the field anthropologist and Sangheili cultural expert of Fireteam Osiris. Curious and composed, Vale is fascinated by the contradictions and complexities of Sangheili culture, and finds in their psychology and rituals a truly challenging puzzle that can be unlocked through dedication and study. She’s the only member of Fireteam Osiris who can speak Sangheili, and the only one equipped with an SMG and Plasma Pistol—two weapons not often carried by Spartans headed to the field.

Edward Buck

Role: Rifleman

Default Loadout: Assault Rifle, Magnum

Advantages: Artemis tracking system, fast thruster recharge, increased melee attack and Spartan Charge strength

Edward Buck has been around for a while—long enough to have learned the value of a good joke. This fortunate soldier has survived three harrowing decades of the Covenant War as an ODST, despite participating in its most vicious battles—a fact that speaks volumes about his skill and resolve. Buck’s induction into the Spartan-IV program surprised no one. He is an expert in all forms of alien ass-kicking and serves as an invaluable advisor and mentor for the members of Fireteam Osiris.
