Objective: Find the Master Chief

Using their thrusters to slow their descent, Fireteam Osiris narrowly survives their harrowing escape from the Guardian. Touching down on the Genesis’s surface, Locke finally makes contact with the Master Chief. The conversation is brief, but Locke learns that Chief is near something called the Gateway. The striking structure on the horizon seems a likely candidate.

There’s no time to lose. Follow the path ahead to a Forerunner facility 1. The station’s monitor, 031 Exuberant Witness, greets you inside. It informs you that it is in charge of the Genesis station and asks if you’ve “also” come to stop Cortana from seizing the Mantle of Responsibility. Exuberant indicates that humanity’s future will be quite dismal if Cortana succeeds.

Objective: Follow the Monitor

The monitor leads you to a nearby exit. Follow it there, where it warns you that hostile entities lie ahead. Exuberant then summons a Scorpion Tank to assist you in reaching the Gateway. Consider grabbing or giving away the nearby Forerunner weaponry before driving off in your tank.

Achievement: Tank Still Beats Everything

Scorpions are major assets, particularly when playing on Legendary difficulty. If you maintain your Scorpion throughout this mission during Legendary play, you’ll earn an Achievement when you reach the point where the Scorpion can no longer advance. You forfeit your chances of earning this Achievement if the Scorpion is destroyed or if you leave it behind, so don’t stray too far from the Scorpion when exiting the vehicle, and don’t let it take too much damage. Restart from the previous checkpoint if your Scorpion suffers harm.

Annihilate the first Ghost and Ultra Ghost you encounter just outside of the garage 2, then order your teammates to pilot the two fresh Ghosts parked on the left. Artemis reveals a data pad near the Ghosts; hop out and scan it for intel.

Mission 13 Intel Acquired (1/10)

Achievement: Rolling Thunder

When playing with friends in Co-op mode on Heroic or Legendary difficulty, earn an Achievement by having all four members of your team pilot vehicles. You’re nearly there with the two Ghosts you’ve just discovered, and you could potentially satisfy this Achievement right now if you manage to defeat an enemy Ghost’s driver without destroying the vehicle itself. There are many other vehicles to exploit during this mission—check the maps for their locations.

Roll onward, listening as Exuberant reveals the truth about the Guardians. When you begin to descend a slope 3, unleash your Scorpion’s cannon on the distant Ultra Wraith, Beam Turrets, and other assorted hostiles ahead.

Advance down the slope to entice more Prometheans to spawn, including four Knights. Back up and obliterate priority targets from afar.

Legendary Strategy

Don’t allow your Scorpion to take much damage during this first battle. You can secure this area without suffering much harm if you’re careful, and you’ll benefit from a healthy tank later on.

Alternate Approach

Any teammates who are not piloting vehicles may want to utilize the Plasma Casters stashed on the rocks to the left 4 or the Fuel Rod Cannons found on the ledge near the far wall 5—just beware of the Grunt Heavy that guards them. There’s a fresh Ultra Ghost parked near the Fuel Rod Cannons, so everyone can have their own vehicle now.

Secure the area, and then Exuberant will open the way forward. Before following Exuberant through the large door, exit your tank and search the area’s far left edge 6 with Artemis to discover a data pad and a special Fuel Rod Cannon called Light of Urs. Scan the pad and grab or give away this special weapon.

Mission 13 Intel Acquired (2/10)

Turn around after grabbing Light of Urs and climb the rocks behind you. Keep to the left as you traverse the rocks, heading back toward the Fuel Rod Cannons 5. Engage Artemis as you go to detect an object of interest above the Fuel Rod Cannons’ ledge. Scan the object, which turns out to be a broken Constructor, for intel. Return to your Scorpion afterward and follow Exuberant through the door it opened.

Mission 13 Intel Acquired (3/10)

Light of URS

The war on Sanghelios has led to unprecedented advances in fuel rod technology. This improved Fuel Rod Cannon fires faster-moving projectiles that do more damage.
