The lift ferries Blue Team to an even higher section of the Gateway, where the Warden stages his biggest attack yet. Fight through multiple waves of constructs as you press toward the far door. The Knights and Soldier Snipers that appear near the end are extremely dangerous and must be approached with great caution. Never hesitate to fall back if things become dicey, or if you simply need a bit more ammo for your favorite firearm.

The Binary Rifles dropped by the previous battle’s Soldier Snipers are excellent power weapons to carry into this battle—use them to quickly cut down the hardened targets you face at first. Incineration Cannons are also excellent for bringing down the Knights, and you can find more of them during the fight. A well-stocked LightRifle, Scattershot, or Suppressor serves as an effective backup to your power weapon.
You’re making progress, but the Warden is persistent. It summons many more Soldiers to thwart you as you step off the lift platform, including two Captains armed with deadly Splinter Turrets 11. Two lethal Beam Turrets materialize farther ahead, adding to the threat. If you still have ammo for an Incineration Cannon, fire charged shots at the Beam Turrets and Captains to bring them down fast.
Legendary StrategyIt’s important to find angles on the constructs in this battle during Legendary play. Avoid the middle ground and move around the area’s side walkways, flanking the enemy and reducing your exposure to foes on the opposing walkway. This is especially important when advancing on the Knights; neutralize the Soldier Snipers and Knight on one side of the area, then fall back, loop around, and do the same over on the other side. |
More Prometheans materialize as you press forward. Crawlers spawn on the central low ground 12, while Soldier Captains armed with LightRifles and Scattershots appear on the right and left walkways. Use the Splinter Turrets dropped by the previous Soldier Captains to cripple these foes, then mop them up with smaller arms. Resist the urge to use the Incineration Cannon that’s stored near the central lookout 13, because more powerful hostiles lurk even farther ahead.
Farther ahead, the Warden summons two Knights and several Soldier Snipers to defend the far door 14. Grab the Incineration Cannon docked at the central lookout 13, charge up shots while behind cover, then pop out and blast the Knights before ducking back to safety. Wipe out both Knights with the Incineration Cannon, then turn your attention to picking off the Snipers with a LightRifle.
Legendary StrategyAs before, the Soldier Snipers armed with Binary Rifles are deadly threats when playing on Legendary. There are six Snipers, but only four of them wield Binary Rifles. Keep track of them and kill them first, then work at bringing down the Knights. Remember: Being deleted by a Binary Rifle spoils your chances of earning the Harbinger Achievement. |
The mayhem doesn’t end after the Knights fall. Instead, a few more Soldier Captains spawn into the area. These wield Scattershots and will try to rush you by phasing into close quarters. Fall back to avoid being overwhelmed, and unload to halt their advance.
The far door opens after the final construct falls. Before heading through, backtrack a bit and locate a Forerunner console in the low ground between the accelerator pads 12. Scan it to unlock the mission’s final bit of intel, then continue moving toward your objective.
