Halo 5: Guardians eGuide Arena

Plaza

Description: Promesa’s streets were no stranger to organized violence.

Game Modes: Slayer, Strongholds

Plaza is a colorful asymmetrical map set in an urban environment. Mastering the verticality of this map is key—jump and clamber onto the various platforms, ledges, lights, and awnings to gain a height advantage, then take your opponents by surprise.

Featured Weapons and Power-Ups

Item Name Location Respawn Time
Sniper Rifle Cinema 3:00
Overshield Top Mid 2:00

Starting Moves

  • Regardless of which team you’re on, make an aggressive push for the Overshield with your whole team. But take different routes to gain different angles on this high-traffic area at Top Mid. The Overshield is a true game changer—whichever team takes it first can dictate the flow of the match’s early moments.
  • If you’re not making a move for the Overshield, flank around to the Plaza or Cafe sides of the map. From these perimeter locations you can provide support fire, helping prevent the opposing team from grabbing the Overshield.

Power Position: Plaza Sneaky

How to Leverage

This yellow ledge overlooks the center of the map, making it an ideal position for watching the Overshield—reach it by jumping and clambering from the Bridge Wing. You can also use this ledge to target opponents rushing around the perimeter of the map, ambushing them in the Plaza below. When moving to this position, bring along a precision weapon like the Sniper Rifle, LightRifle, or Battle Rifle—lobbing grenades from this high perch is also very effective.

How to Counter

Given its popularity, expect the enemy team to take advantage of the Plaza Sneaky ledge. Coordinate with your teammates to make a move on this position from multiple angles. For best results, attack from the Plaza side by performing a skill jump up to the ledge—this is a good way to catch opponents by surprise, especially if your teammates lay down cover fire from other perimeter positions, like the Cinema Loft.

Tactics

If your team can control the perimeter of the map, you’ll force the opposing team to spawn in the center, putting them at a serious disadvantage, caught in your team’s crossfire. From the outer perimeter you have more lines of sight and more escape routes.

It’s possible to reach the Plaza Sneaky ledge from inside the Plaza, but it’s not easy—you need to perform a skill jump. From the Plaza, sprint, jump, thrust, stabilize, and clamber to get up on this ledge. This is a good way to sneak up on opponents sniping from Plaza Sneaky.

The Overshield is located on a narrow bridge at Top Mid accessible from the Flowers or Cinema sides of the map. After grabbing the Overshield, apply it immediately and make a quick escape to one of the perimeter locations before you’re picked off—incoming shots from the Sniper Rifle and Plasma Pistol are particularly deadly.

In addition to Plaza Sneaky, take advantage of other overlook perches at Cinema Loft and Cafe Sneaky. Both of these spots have a clear view of the map’s central locations, including the Overshield. Pick off opponents at long range using the Sniper Rifle or LightRifle.

When transitioning across the center of the map, avoid running across the Bridge. Instead, cross between the Hotel Platform and Cinema Platform, jumping across the top of the Garbage Truck along the way—you’re a much harder target to hit when skipping across the Garbage Truck.
