Altitude

Description: Let it be eternal.

Game Modes: Breakout

Altitude is dominated by a large, central tower-like structure at Top Mid that’s accessible via two large ramps leading out of each team’s base. While maintaining a height advantage is crucial, the lower areas of the map provide plenty of cover and opportunities for flanking.

Starting Moves

  • Rush up the Red or Blue Platfrom to grab the Battle Rifle and use it to score some long-range hits on opponents. Controlling the high ground is essential, and having at least one teammate providing long-range cover fire from the Red or Blue Platform is crucial for keeping opponents hunkered down near their base.
  • If you’re not occupying the Red or Blue Platform, rush up the central ramp to take control of Top Mid. However, watch out for incoming fire and grenades coming from Red or Blue Platform on the left side. Use the central ramp (where the Breakout flag is placed) for cover.

Tactics

By using the lifts in Blue and Red Yard you can sneak up on Top Mid, taking opponents by surprise. Bounce from the lower lift to the upper lift (on the Red or Blue Platform) to reach new heights. By continuing to jump and clamber you can reach the roof of Top Mid, ideal for engaging opponents rushing about below.

Drop through the hole in Top Mid to stage a Ground Pound on opponents in Bottom Mid. This hole can also serve as a good escape route when carrying the flag.

Realizing that players are most likely rushing to Top Mid, Blue Platform, or Red Platform, toss some grenades toward these areas at the start of a round. You may get lucky and score a kill, giving your team an early-round advantage.

You can’t jump or crawl through the narrow rectangular windows in the Blue and Red Yards—but you can shoot through them. Use these bunker-like portholes to engage opponents on the other side. At the very least, peek through these windows to get an idea of where the opponents are positioned.

There are lifts on the front sides of the Red and Blue Platforms. Usually, these lifts launch you toward Top Mid. But if you thrust in the opposite direction, you’ll land on the Red or Blue Platform. This is a good way to surprise opponents and acquire the Battle Rifle, which spawns here.

Don’t forget to play defense during Breakout. If you’re the last player on your team, retreat to your team’s base and play goalie—this is critical if the opposing team has already acquired the flag. There isn’t much cover for the flag carrier, giving you the chance turn the tide.
