Halo 5: Guardians eGuide Campaign Walkthrough Mission 1: Osiris

Major Firefight: Knight Encounter

The last of the Promethean forces make their stand in this Forerunner facility, where Dr. Halsey is believed to be located. Opposition will be stiff, for the Prometheans will stop at nothing to prevent Dr. Halsey from unlocking the secrets of Forerunner technology. Lethal Promethean warriors known as Knights await you here. Be prepared for anything, Spartan.

Recommended Loadout

Grab the Binary Rifle that you found on the ledge outside this facility 24—it will help you pick off the dangerous Knights. A Suppressor or Scattershot makes for an excellent backup weapon, for the Binary Rifle’s low ammo won’t last long. If you really want to make a statement, grab one of the Splinter Turrets from outside and carry it into the facility in preparation for war.

Proceed down the hall until you come to a door 25. The door opens partway as you approach, giving you a front-row seat to a hulking Promethean Knight’s destruction of Covenant troops. Conserve your ammo, for you cannot harm the Knight until the door fully opens. The moment it does, unleash your Suppressor or Scattershot on the Knight’s exposed back to wipe it out in short order.

Knight

The Promethean army’s most formidable warriors, Knights tower above all others on the battlefield, instilling terror in enemy ranks. Think of Knights as Soldiers on steroids: they’re stronger and tougher, and they can suddenly bound into close range to deliver devastating blows or lethal blasts from their Scattershots. Knights are protected by thick plates of armor, which can be dismantled just like that of a Soldier. For the fastest takedowns, use grenades or explosive weaponry, or target the glowing cores near the Knight’s arms. Destroy these cores to expose the Knight’s vulnerable back, or keep landing headshots to uncover its susceptible head. Once it’s exposed, target a Knight’s head or back to quickly defeat it.

Remain in the doorway as you unleash your most powerful weaponry against the Knights in the room beyond. Use the Binary Rifle to take shots at their side cores, or try to blast off their helmets and expose their vulnerable heads. When you run out of ammo, trade your Binary Rifle for a LightRifle (there are several just outside the door and more around the room) and keep shooting the Knights’ heads and cores. Switch to a Suppressor or Scattershot and mow down any Crawlers that draw near while you’re sniping the Knights, and don’t hesitate to fall back through the door for more ammo or to recharge your shields.

Legendary Strategy

Knights are no joke, especially when playing on Legendary. Bringing a Splinter Turret into the room with you may seem like overkill, but it certainly evens the odds—just hang back and let it rip. Make use of the Binary Rifle as well, and don’t hesitate to fall back through the door to recover your shields as often as needed. It’s a tough fight, but you have every advantage going into it!

After thinning out the enemies in the room, or whenever you get a chance, back out of the room and use Artemis to locate a UNSC data pad in the outer hall near the window 26. Scan the pad for more Mission Intel. Only one more to go!

Return to the room and secure it, then search the far-right corner 27 to discover a Plasma Cannon and a UNSC data pad. Use Artemis to pinpoint the pad if need be, then scan it to obtain the mission’s final piece of Mission Intel. When you’re ready to complete the mission, approach the room’s far door to at last reach Dr. Halsey.

Plasma Cannon Turret

Deployed by the Covenant as stationary turrets, Plasma Cannons are powerful weapons that never run out of ammo, so long as they’re affixed to their turret mount. When detached from its mount, a Plasma Cannon loses its infinite ammo advantage, but its wielder gains the ability to carry the Plasma Cannon around as a third weapon, just like a Splinter Turret. Agility is reduced while carrying a Plasma Cannon, but the weapon’s vast firepower is usually a welcome advantage.
