Location: Train Hideout
Take the train or a carriage to reach Lambeth, the borough in the southeast corner of London. Before starting this memory we suggest Synchronizing with the nearby Viewpoint (1). Take a Leap of Faith into the hay below and head to Alexander Graham Bell’s house (2) following the “B” icon on the map to begin the Freedom Of The Press memory.
Location: Lambeth; Alexander Graham Bell’s House
Henry, Jacob, and Evie find Alexander Graham Bell in his study intercepting Starrick’s Morris Code transmissions, but he’s frustrated, as all they are talking about is Soothing Syrup. Introductions are made and Jacob asks if he can fix the broken Rope Gun. As he fixes the contraption, he mentions that it would be great for fitting his fuses on top of Big Ben. Alex has been installing a new telegraph line for the Free Press Association to combat Starrick’s Telegraph Company.
Evie volunteers to help Bell with his fuses—thus claiming the first use out of the Rope Launcher, now “gun-less” and attached to the Assassin’s gauntlet.
Objective: Drive Bell’s Carriage
Alex waits in an open carriage outside his house. Follow the green blip on the Mini-Map to find Alex. Enter the carriage and drive Alex to Big Ben
Objective: Reach Big Ben
While following the route marker to Big Ben, Alex talks about his inventions and during the ride, Evie helps him name one of his biggest. Stop in the marker near Big Ben (3) in Westminster.
Current Objective: Install 3 Fuses
Challenge: Install the fuses without going below 30m in altitude
Exit the carriage and hop over the metal gate around Big Ben. Look up from the base of the large clock tower and move around until you acquire the L1 Rope Launcher prompt. This gets you all the way up to the bell tower platform above the clock. Climb up the windows to reach the bell where the first fuse box is found.
Walk up to the fuse box and press
/
to install the first fuse. Climb to the top of Big Ben to synchronize with the area and then climb back down to the bell tower platform. Climb onto the outer ledge facing south. To complete the altitude Challenge you need to attach the Rope Launcher to very high targets. Acquire the Rope Launch lock-on to one of the top tiers above the green blip on the next tower (4).
Once on the tower, drop down to the lower platform where you can interact with the second fuse box. Walk to the southern edge of the tower platform and try to acquire a Rope Launcher lock-on to the top of the tall spire. Between the second fuse tower and this spire is a hidden Helix Glitch, which you zipline through if you acquire the high lock-on.
From the tip of the spire, acquire a Rope Launch lock-on on the next building to the south. Get a high lock-on and sail to this building now.
Now walk out onto the south edge of this tower and stand on a small gable. Notice you cannot acquire a Rope Launcher lock-on while hanging onto an object; you must have your feet on a platform or the ground to use the Rope Launcher. Now acquire a high lock-on on the tip of the tower below you to the south.
From the tip of the south tower, drop down to a lower ledge and then try to acquire a Rope Launcher lock-on to the large corner tower (5) where the final fuse box is located. You’ll be able to achieve a lock-on just below the highest big windows. Rope Launch and then climb the tower to reach the rooftop platform.
Install the final fuse using the route suggested and you pass the 30m altitude Challenge. Return the way you came to find Bell. You no longer have to remain above 30 meters.
Current Objective: Speak to Bell
Zipline back to Big Ben and then head to the street level to speak to Alexander Graham Bell who is waiting for you in the carriage (3). He thanks you for your help now that he can continue the new line. Before he leaves he demonstrates a smoke bomb upgrade he’s been toying with. This will give you a smoke bomb radius upgrade but first you need some metal components for crafting the bomb upgrade.
Current Objective: Loot 200 metal components
Challenge: Air Assassinate a guard from a zipline
Take a nearby carriage to the general location of the two metal component crate locations (6 & 7). This is near Bell’s home. At location (6), get to the rooftops and mark enemies with Eagle Vision.
You spot four enemies and a Chest below. A Watcher (A) stands in one place with a keen eye on the crate. A Soldier (B) and a Brute (C) have a long patrol route moving from the Chest to the next house to the west. The fourth enemy is a Soldier (D) who also stands still while watching the Chest just below the rooftop in the picture.
When the Patrolling Soldier (B) and Brute (C) stop near the Chest along their patrol route, throw knives at their heads until both are dead. If someone spots you, run back along the rooftop over the peak to get out of their view and then return when anonymous again.
Use the Rope Launcher to attach to one of the wooden ledges above the Chest jutting from the side of the building. Zipline across the rope and stop when above the Soldier (D) who is now inspecting the bodies of the fallen near the Chest. Don’t worry about the Watcher (A) seeing you when you drop down and Air Assassinate the Soldier; the Watcher is slow and tries to shoot you. By that time you have rushed and killed her with a couple good combo attacks. You could also use a Smoke Bomb before you attack to make an easier battle. Loot the bodies and then open the Chest to collect 100 metal components.
Turn west and head for the yellow blip marking the location of the second Chest (7). If you need knives, buy them from the street vendor (Shop) near the second Chest location. Activate Eagle Vision as you approach the Chest area. Find the Watcher (E) on the rooftop, identified by the crosshairs icon over this enemy’s head. Climb up to the rooftop on the opposite end of the Watcher and then come up behind her in her patrol route and quietly assassinate her.
Get to the end of the rooftop facing the courtyard with the enemy Blighters and the Chest. There’s one more Watcher (H), two Soldiers (F) and (I) and a Brute (G). The Brute and the Watcher move on a short patrol back and forth across the brick path below. Walk up to the edge of the rooftop and throw knives at the heads of the Brute (G) and the Soldier (I) when they stand near each other.
Now use the Rope Launcher to anchor to the rooftop above the Chest across the courtyard. Perform an Air Assassination on the Soldier (F) and then run up behind the Watcher (H) while her back is turned. Open the Chest.
Current Objective: Reach Bell’s Workshop
Bell’s workshop (2) is about 40 meters away from the second Chest. Follow the green blip on screen or on the Mini-Map to return there now. Inside, Evie finds Bell showing Jacob the first messages received via the mended lines you helped him repair. He reminds the two of you to call on him whenever you need him again as the twins hustle out of the workshop.
