One Good Deed

Current Objective: Defend Edward

Location: Southwark

The memory start (1) is located on the rooftop of an East Southwark home near the train station. In this memory, Evie visits Southwark after Jacob assassinated Pearl and shut down her omnibus company.

Three Blighter thugs surround Edward Hodson Bayle—a nicely dressed elderly man. He backs away from the gang as they threaten him and his family. Evie drops from a rooftop onto the street behind the gang and yells. The diversion allows the frightened man to get away in a nearby carriage.

While in your carriage, you see Edward Bayle fleeing to the left through the intersection in front of you. A Blighter-driven carriage is hot on his tail. Whip the horse and get after the Blighter carriage. Once in range, begin using the Quickshot pistol feature. Try to take out all three Blighters with bullets. If you run out, fallback to knives.

Bayle’s cart is marked with a blue blip and the word “Defend.” Race to him directly; the Blighters are drawn to him as well.

There are three carriages with one Blighter each. Not a terribly tough Challenge, unless you are low on ammo. Remember you can also Ram their carriages and then if they survive that you can hijack them out of the carriage and show them your latest knife. If you catch up to Edward, you can board his carriage and take over the driving—it’s not a bad idea to do this while Blighters are trying to attack Bayle. You will do a much better job of keeping him safe if he’s by your side. And the best place for you to be is in control of his vehicle.

Current Objective: Reach the omnibus factory

Drive Edward’s carriage

The objective does not change until all three Blighter pursuers are dead. Then you are to drive Edward in his vehicle to the omnibus factory (2). During the ride Edward expresses his fears for his children’s lives. He says since Attaway Transport and the Millner Company went belly-up, with no one to fill their shoes, the gangs made their move. Evie mutters under her breath, “Well done, Jacob.”

Edward is the only omnibus builder in the city and they are demanding he work for them. Evie allies with Mr. Bayle to get back a stolen deed that will allow him to start a new, honest omnibus company.

Current Objective: Locate the deed

Challenge: Do not let the target exit the factory

Location: Attaway Transport, Southwark

The rest of this mission will seem very familiar to you if you have been conquering boroughs and taking out a lot of child labor factories. There are no children here but the layout of the building is a popular factory design-type and there’s a boss glowing yellow inside when searching with Eagle Vision activated. Sounds familiar, right?

So, like most Child Liberation challenges, get to the rooftop before engaging anyone and find the open door to the top floor. In this case, it’s on the building’s southeast corner. There’s a Watcher (A) on the balcony outside a door. Air Assassinate her and then cover next to the open doorway. Look into the top floor of the factory.

Current Objective: Steal the deed

Sneak into the open factory doorway and continue to cover around the stack of barrels to the left of the entrance. Get to the end of the barrel stack and whistle for the large Brute (B) near the balcony rail. There are other Blighters (C) nearby so make sure to aim your whistle at the Brute. That’s right, “aim.” Look directly at the Brute so he is in the center of the screen. Then whistle. This helps focus the sound and helps prevent accidentally alerting others in earshot. After cover assassinating him, throw a knife or two at the head of the last Soldier (C) on your floor near the stairs.

Look at the floor using Eagle Vision. Spot the two closest thugs (D) & (E) patrolling the floors below. Whistle when they are beneath you. One Blighter (D) makes the trek up the stairs to find you. Cover Assassinate him from the same location (the barrels near the door).

So believe it or not, you can almost complete this entire Challenge from these same barrels. Continue to look through the floor using Eagle Vision. Soon you see the target with the deed glowing yellow through the floor. Whistle at him and take him out as you did the others. If he’s stubborn and doesn’t make it all the way to your barrel trap, stealthily throw knives at his head. If you feel like exploring further and want to catch him patrolling his own floor, you have an opportunity to find a locked Chest. Kill the target and loot the deed from his body.

Current Objective: Escape the factory

Now that you have the deed, you must escape the factory. Simply turn back out the door you entered through, cross the balcony and Rope Launch to the group of houses to the south. By the time you reach the rooftops you escape the restricted zone and receive your next orders.

Current Objective: Return the deed

Find a carriage and follow the route marker back south where this mission began. Pull up next to the omnibus lot (3). You should recognize it as the place where Jacob exploded some busses not too long ago. Hop the surrounding gate to get in the yard and the mission will complete. Evie delivers the deed and receives thanks from Edward and his new omnibus company partners.
