Unbreaking The Bank

Location: Royal Exchange, City of London

Evie meets Frederick Abberline in an alley near the Royal Exchange in the City of London. There’s a market riot going on and Abberline looks angry. He pokes a finger at Evie saying her brother is behind this chaos. The newspapers are all over Twopenny’s murder and if that weren’t enough, someone has stolen the currency printing plates. Abberline believes Jacob was behind this. Abberline fears inflation, riots, and possibly manufacturing jumping to America for cheap labor. Evie tells Abberline that she will fix everything by sneaking the plates back into the bank. He also asks her to destroy the counterfeiting plates if she comes across them.

Current Objective: Follow Abberline

Walk with Abberline as he escorts you through the chaos in the street. There’s a couple of cops to pass (they’re with Abberline) but they won’t be a problem as you walk through the crowded street. Abberline loudly and nervously bickers about the counterfeit plates. All the while, Evie tries to remain cool and quiets him under her breath. Don’t worry; you’ll leave him behind soon enough.

Current Objective: Locate the counterfeiter

When you reach the next street (2), Abberline stays behind. You see the Royal Exchange ahead and a green blip inside. Walk right in through that south doorway while walking upright like the rest of the public. There’s no worry…yet. Once inside, activate Eagle Vision and look to your right to spot the counterfeiter. He glows yellow and has been labeled “Tail.”

Current Objective: Tail the counterfeiter

With Eagle Vision activated you can see two red Blighters and the yellow counterfeiter. They join together and walk out the north doorway—a straight shot from the south doorway you entered. Beat them to it. Just walk right through that building and keep your eye on the “Tail.” When you take your eyes away a timer appears and starts counting down from 15 sec before you are desynchronized. So when you just walk through the Royal Exchange, enter the carriage (4) parked outside at the curb. Enter the hiding spot inside the carriage, not the driver’s seat. This keeps you hidden from all the threats on the street and from the two escorting the counterfeiter to his carriage. His carriage (5) is just a few yards away from you to the west.

If you take out his bodyguards it always turns out badly; the counterfeiter notices you eventually and you are desynchronized. You also see a group of Rooks across the street from your hiding carriage. Don’t call on them yet. They can just foul things up too.

When the counterfeiter reaches his carriage, exit your hiding spot inside and quickly take the driver’s seat. Begin following your Tail. Do not follow too closely, but get moving if a cop or Thug starts looking at you for too long. Follow the counterfeiter as he gets driven only a few blocks away to the south. It’s a short trip. They stop at some ramshackle building (6). Exit your vehicle a good distance away and get to the rooftops (7) across the street from where the target’s carriage parked. Your objective changes when he reaches this destination. You no longer have to worry about being seen. But let’s remain anonymous.

Current Objective: Locate the printing plates

Challenge: Burn the counterfeit money

From the rooftops (7) across the street, get a Rope Launch lock on to the rooftop of the target building (8) with the printing plates.

Get to the west side of this corner unit apartment building and look over the edge. You see a haystack and three Blighters around a barrel fire (use Eagle Vision). To your left you can see a few Blighters inside an apartment and an item that has a “Steal” blip. Walk along the rooftop until you are next to the open window on the second floor. The Blighters do not spot you if you go no lower than the second floor.

There is a Watcher guarding this window, but if you enter using the L1 / LT button then you can move right to an attack as you are passing through and get an assassination. If you miss, the Watcher is so off guard that you can take her out before she gives you away. You can wait to do this move when the nearby Brute is not on the stairs or just go in and take them out both quickly. It won’t escalate to reinforcements.

Burn Counterfeit Money

Enter the only open room on this floor and you find the counterfeit money to burn on a desk inside. Burn it to complete the Challenge.

Head downstairs and assassinate the Brute if you have not already (on the stairs) and then silently dispatch the Enforcer on the lower floor where the printing plates are. The plates are on a desk near the stairs. Take them. Exit out of the apartment by heading back upstairs and going through the window in the room where you found the counterfeit money that you burned.

Current Objective: Reach the Bank of England

Challenge: Let the civilians into the Bank

Exit the south side of the counterfeit house and look for the green blip on your map that represents the Bank of England. Rooftop hop and zipline to get there. When you reach the bank (9), you discover a huge crowd at the southern entrance and security holding them back. No one is allowed inside. Look further east on the corner and you find a gang of Rooks (10). Recruit them and then come back to the crowded doorway.

Have your Rooks take out the cops near the door and then enter the bank through this doorway and order your Rooks to take out any other nearby threats. Stand in the lobby just through the doors and watch the crowd from the street start spilling into the bank. This completes the Challenge.

Current Objective: Return the printing plates

You’ve been in the bank before as Jacob so you probably know its layout pretty well by now. Just walk into the main lobby, continue north to the vault, take a right into the office (not into the vault) where Jacob kidnapped the Bank Manager. Unlock the door and enter the next room with the open elevator shaft. Return the plates to the table near the windows on the left side of the room.

Current Objective: Escape the Bank of England

To escape, just run out the front door. You could use the Entry Point in the small office where you just unlocked the door, but it’s just as easy to run out the front door and lose any followers you might have picked up.

Abberline thanks you for cleaning up Jacob’s mess. He says the papers are running the story of how it was all a hoax. No more riots! Faith in the bank restored!
