Friendly Competition

Location: West London

This is Jacob Frye’s memory. He offers to help Miss Attaway destroy Starrick’s omnibus company, starting with blowing up several of his omnibuses. The memory start location (1) is easy to spot; find Miss Pearl Attaway standing near a burning bus on the sidewalk in west London.

At first Miss Attaway thinks Jacob has come to assassinate her and he quickly explains that he’d like to partner up with her to take out the Millner Omnibus Company, which Starrick recently purchased. Pearl has been receiving threats on her life and Malcolm Millner has all but waged war on her since Starrick bought out his company. They have common enemies and similar short term goals.

Current Objective: Locate one of Millner’s employees

You begin this memory in the driver’s seat of a large Attaway Transport Omnibus with Pearl in a passenger seat behind you. Follow the green blip marking one of Millner’s employees driving another carriage to the south (2). Follow the route marked on the Mini-Map and on screen. Listen to the conversation between the two new acquaintances along the way.

Current Objective: Kill Millner’s employee

Challenge: Save Ms. Attaway’s Omnibus driver from his pursuer

When you cross over The Thames and reach the first intersection (2) in Southwark you spot a Blighter racing a carriage towards you from the right. This is your target. The location of the Attaway omnibus driver he’s set on killing is not clear, nor does it matter because you can finish this objective with just a few bullets. Select your firearm and perform multiple Quickshots with / within close range until the Blighter in the driver’s seat falls dead out of the vehicle. You can also threaten the driver or ram his vehicle until it is destroyed.

Current Objective: Loot Millner’s employee

Jump out of the omnibus and defeat any Blighters that were in the area that respond to the violence. Loot the body of the driver to obtain the Omnibus Route Schedule. The schedule also has a note giving you a clue to follow next. This completes the Challenge of saving the driver from his pursuer.

Current Objective: Drive Pearl’s omnibus and Reach Millner’s storage yard

Return to Pearl on her omnibus and drive to the storage yard following the green blip (3) on the Mini-Map.

Once you arrive, a cinematic shows Malcolm Millner screaming at his employees at the storage yard. Pearl wants you to serve him some of his own medicine. Jacob mentions he will call for the help of his gang to get this job done.

Current Objective: Find a way to destroy the omnibuses

Head south from where you left Pearl and recruit the three Rooks near the sidewalk around the storage yard. Recruit them and have them hold their position. Continue to the top of the building behind them. Activate Eagle Vision and locate all the Blighters in the yard.

There are many ways to take out the seven Blighters around the yard. An easy way is to shoot a dart at the barrel fire (A) and infect two of the Blighters standing near it. Let them start the chaos. As Blighters are attacking Blighters, send in your gang to attack. While in Eagle Vision you can tag individual enemies that are in range for a Rook attack. Do this and sit back and watch how the fight unfolds. Perform Air Assassinations on anyone that survives. As you can see from our picture, we upgrade our Rook Soldiers to a high level early in the game to give them the advantage in battle.

Current Objective: Push the cart of explosives

When you scan the area using Eagle Vision, the cart of explosives (B) glows yellow. This changes the objective to pushing the cart. So jump down off the rooftop and get to the cart of explosives.

Mash the / button continuously to push the cart forward into a parking place between two of Millner’s large omnibuses. When it reaches the correct position, Jacob automatically lets go.

Current Objective: Ignite the cart full of explosives

Now stay where you are, look to your left (east) and study your escape route. Ignite the fuse and run east toward the pile of wood stacked against the brick wall and then run up and over the wall and keep running east. Or, you can also escape by Rope Launching to the rail bridge above. You have 10 seconds to clear the red zone on the Mini-Map. This completes the memory.

In the ending cinematic, Jacob relishes in the glory of the Millner omnibuses going up in flames while sharing the moment with his new partner. Before Pearl leaves she mentions to Jacob that he is “hired.” Jacob gives her a funny look and his words trail off as she rides away. Jacob tries to tell her that he actually doesn’t work that way. But it falls on deaf ears.
