Bonfire—Untended Graves

You reach this dark version of the starting area by going through a secret door at the end of Consumed King’s Garden. The Bonfire is at the base of the first hill.

Corvians and a Corvian Storyteller are clustered together by the grave where you first rose. This area is very dark, and new items are available. The location is essentially a copy of the Ashen Shrine, but it has worse monsters and far better treasure.

Kill these foes to get yourself the Ashen Estus Ring.

You find Grave Wardens and Starved Hounds in small groups toward the far side of the area. There isn’t anything new or particularly dangerous about these encounters.

Two Ravenous Crystal Lizards are in the area where only one of them lived the first time you went through this region. You can pull them separately, making these fights very manageable. You obtain more Titanite Scales from this encounter, and Titanite Chunks are littered around the general map. These items are great for topping off extra equipment.

As you approach the next Bonfire, watch out for any invasions. If you have to contend with anything here, be wary of the narrow ledges. Don’t roll off or let any enemies fight you with your back to the cliff’s edge.

Note that there isn’t a Bonfire in the old spot; you must continue using the Untended Graves Bonfire if you need any rest.

Major Battle

Iudex Gundyr is gone, so you probably don’t expect a boss to be here. But there is, and this isn’t the original boss. This is Champion Gundyr, with much more health, faster moves, a deadlier set of attacks, and an arena that is dark. These factors make the fight much more dangerous than it was originally. When it's over, search the area north from the waypoint to get the Black Knight Glaive.
