| Half of the Steps for Reaching Archdragon Peak |
As soon as you reach Lothric Castle, turn south and get onto a lift at the end of that corridor. The lift takes you down into the Consumed King’s Garden. You can roll off of the lift partway down, or let it go all the way to the bottom. There are Rotten Slugs at the base of the lift, but they’re not really your problem. The issue is that most of this region is laden with toxins. Merely stepping on the dark patches of ground causes you to get the toxic effect.
It’s safer to get off halfway down because that exit from the lift gets you onto higher ground. Even better, there are pieces of treasure up there. An Estus Shard is on the platform above. On the ground level, you also get a Ring of Sacrifice.
When searching on New Game +1, you get a Wood Grain Ring+1 to the east of the waypoint. South of the building, you get a Sage Ring+2 (on New Game +2).
The Rotten Slugs aren’t tough or particularly dangerous. However, there are also Pus of Mans and Consumed King’s Knights in this area. Both of those enemy types are extremely dangerous.
Unleash ranged attacks from the high ground, and choose your moment to descend. Either way, you are safe once you kill your foes and get onto the non-toxic ground.
Clear everything that’s close to the central, raised area in the garden. Then, go after the Consumed King’s Knight who is standing up there. Killing him gives you a great place to survey the garden and figure out where you’re going next.
There are many small but important pieces of treasure in the surrounding area. Underneath the waypoint's platform, you get a Claw and the Shadow Armor Set. After you’ve gotten everything, this place becomes a “sprint through” area. At first, though, it’s useful to kill every enemy and collect each piece of treasure. This will probably take quite a few Estus Flask drinks off of your supply, but you don’t need to go for a boss run just yet. Get everything you can carry, use a Homeward Bone, and then return once you’re able to move through this area without having to fight all of the tougher monsters.
More items are underneath the central platform. Don’t miss them! You can finally get some hardcore upgrades for your late-game weaponry. Titanite Chunks start showing up more often at this point.
Look for a small building along the northern wall. There is another lift inside that passes two upper floors. Jump off at the middle floor to get a Dragonscale Ring without putting in too much effort. Then, use the lift to reach the upper floor. Get off there, and go through a short corridor. You can find some equipment on a body a couple of rooms away, but back off as soon as you get it.
Hollow Slaves attack from higher positions in the room, and they have ranged support.
The rest of the area up top simply leads toward a barred door. Once you open that, it becomes a shortcut so that you can return from the Bonfire without having to go through the early part of the garden.
A small plaza blocks your direct route from the original lift to the boss. A serious Consumed King’s Knight stands resolute on the lower floor of the area. Shoot him at range to get damage in before the real fight. If you’re in the mood for cheap tactics, hop off of the wall once the knight gets close, and use the terrain to your advantage. This allows you to get more shots against him. He'll drop the Magic Stoneplate Ring when he dies.
Major Battle
The boss’ room isn’t far from the plaza. To save Estus Flasks for your attempt on the boss, try sprinting past as much of the garden as you can. These enemies are high-end, but they’re not always so quick to chase you. Because of this, you’re able to bring most or even all of your Estus Flask uses to bear against Oceiros. Rush to his fog gate, slip inside, and laugh at your pursuers.
