Dark Souls III eGuide (Steam) Gameplay

Your Build Is Not Your Class!

Remember, your build is defined by your stat allocations as you level, the equipment you wear, and the upgrades you invest in your equipment.

Your class only serves as a jumping off point, giving you an early start on the stats that you want to prioritize and possibly some key early equipment that you might not be able to find in the game until later.

At very high Soul Levels, once you have raised many attributes up to their soft caps, characters are defined almost entirely by the equipment you choose to use. This tends to happen once you push into New Game Plus territory on a single character.

However, on your first playthrough, your starting attributes and stat choices as you level do matter quite a bit because you aren’t likely to have enough Souls to simply raise everything equally for quite some time.
