Dark Souls III eGuide (Steam) Walkthrough

All Possible Endings (SPOILER WARNING)

There are four endings in the game. Let’s talk about how to access each of them.

1. The Simple Ending

The easiest ending is to defeat the Soul of Cinder without having eight Dark Sigils. Simply beat the boss and light the Bonfire. This is what most new players will encounter without specifically trying to get another ending.

2. The True Ending

Get the Eyes of a Fire Keeper from the Untended Graves area (as noted earlier in this walkthrough). Give these to the Fire Keeper. Defeat the Soul of Cinder and then summon the Fire Keeper from a white sign on the ground nearby. She’ll take you into the second ending from there.

3. Usurping the Fire

Get the Eyes of a Fire Keeper from the Untended Graves area (earlier in this walkthrough). Give these to the Fire Keeper. Defeat the Soul of Cinder and then summon the Fire Keeper from a white sign on the ground nearby. Instead of letting her complete her ritual, attack her. There is a very small window of opportunity to do this.

Wait for the cutscene to end, as the Fire Keeper starts to let the flame die in her hands. When the light is almost gone, you regain control of your character briefly. Attack the Fire Keeper immediately. Tap on the normal attack button if you need to, to make sure that this works.

This is not a kind or gentle ending.

4. Lord of Hollows Ending

  • This is the hardest ending to achieve, because it has many steps.
  • Use Yoel to Draw Out True Strength 5 times in the early game.
  • Make sure to recruit Yoel, and then kill yourself repeatedly to raise your Hollowing so that you can keep Drawing Out your power. Make sure to do this five times! Each one gets you a Dark Sigil, and this ending isn’t possible if Yoel dies before you have all five of them that he has to offer.
  • Yuria arrives in the shrine soon after. Don’t worry if Yoel collapses and dies afterward. He’s played his part in this already.
  • Speak with Anri twice when you meet on the Road of Sacrifices.
  • Defeat the Deacons of the Deep and then speak with Anri at the Firelink Shrine.
  • Meet Anri in the Catacombs of Carthus and do not say where Horace is located. You can go back and kill Horace later, after you’ve seen Anri in Irithyll (but you don’t need to).
  • Speak with Anri again in Irithyll, in the Church of Yorshka (near the Bonfire).
  • Defeat Pontiff Sulyvahn.
  • Return to the Firelink Shrine and talk to Yuria. Talk until you’ve exhausted her conversation options. You’re told that the wedding preparations are complete.
  • Talk to the Pilgrim toward the end of Irithyll, on the eastern side of the map. The room is down a side hallway when you’re about to enter the tower that takes you up to Anor Londo. The Pilgrim gives you the Sword of Avowal.
  • Execute the Rite of Avowal with Anri in the rear of Gwydolin’s chamber. This gets you three Dark Sigils. You now have all eight!
  • Do not let the Fire Keeper heal your Dark Sigil at any time.
  • Now complete the game by defeating the Soul of Cinder. If you have all eight Sigils, you get this special ending. It’s pretty wicked!
