Dark Souls III Guide (Steam) › Equipment › Melee Weapons

Daggers

Nimble weapons, Daggers are lightweight and quick, requiring minimal Stamina for attacks. The majority of Daggers have low-cost weapon skills focused on evasion or defeating opposing shield usage, useful against NPC humanoid foes, and some players in PvP as well.

Most Daggers have enhanced Critical damage above 100, granting boosted damage for parry-ripostes and backstabs. Daggers are largely Dex focused, both in requirements and scaling. With their rapid strikes, they are ideal for interrupting slower attacks and inflicting status damage buildup.

On the downside, Daggers have little reach, and don’t hit hard per swing, which can make them difficult to use against the truly massive enemies out in the world. If you are playing a Dex focused character, you may want to keep a Dagger around for fighting humanoids, and switch to a different Dex weapon with a bit more punch for larger foes that cannot be backstabbed and shrug off weak hits.
