Cornyx the Pyromancer

Cornyx is a mage who is trapped in the Undead Settlement. Search for him in a cage that is above the road through town. You can’t get to it without finding a way up to the rooftops. Ironically, this means that you need to look for a path below the main road. As you cross a stone bridge Peasant Hollows ahead begin to throw Firebombs at you. That’s the right area.

Drop off the side of the pathway to get onto a ledge beneath that village. You soon discover a Bonfire, and the path leads through a basement and up to the rooftops from the other side. Cornyx is easy to find from there. Let him join your cause, and he’ll teleport to the Firelink Shrine.

Once there, he’ll sell you Pyromancy spells. You find Tomes to expand his repertoire throughout the game. Bring them to him to improve his inventory.

If slain, he drops Ashes of Cornyx and Cornyx’s Armor Set.

Unlike the other elaborate questlines here, Cornyx is remarkably straightforward. The only unusual secret he is connected to involves the White Phantom Great Swamp Cuculus in the Smouldering Lake. If you summon that phantom and defeat the Old Demon King, you can then journey to Cornyx’s original imprisonment site, where you can find the Spotted Whip, and a set of Cornyx’s garb.
