Operation Trace Kill

Complete Operation Trace Kill on any difficulty to earn this Achievement/Trophy.

This mission is the ultimate dogfight and will test all of your Jackal piloting skills. The field is filled with enemies and asteroids, and taking them all out is going to require some major skills, even on the easier difficulties.

To make matters even worse, you only have six minutes to eliminate all enemies before you are too close to the sun.

The key to survival here is to limit the number of Skelters you engage with all at once. To do this, stick to one side of the battlefield and try to avoid grabbing attention from more than one or two Skelters at a time.

The enemies tend to fly in circles and avoid grouping up too much. Wait in one spot for a Skelter to move into range, and then engage. If the enemy is not an Ace, use your missiles. If it is an Ace, try to get some shots off with your guns before they navigate out of range.

Once you’ve thinned the field by about half, start chasing individual Skelters down. Keep an eye on your time limit. Shooting down each Ace takes a lot of time. Only lock on an Ace if you are directly behind it. If you lock from the side, the Ace could steer you into an asteroid. You can get some lost time back by using missiles on the regular Skelters instead of machine guns.

If you manage to shoot everyone down in the time limit, hit the Reload button to bug out before the sun melts your ship.
