Retaliation

Grid Map

Retaliation takes place in what would be a peaceful town and hotel, if it weren’t for the warzone that has erupted around it. Blasted out buildings and abandoned cars on the streets provide a mix of cover and interior areas to battle over.

The central hotel can be used to traverse the map to any point, but be wary inside—cover is limited and with so many routes in and out, it’s a very dangerous place to wait.

There are two ways around the hotel outside: a raised road with a lot of cars for cover, and a second street at a much lower level. Because the lower street is at a lower elevation, it’s at risk from shooters at a higher angle in multiple positions. Don’t walk out in the open on the street. Instead, use the edges and construction scaffolding on one side to move through it quickly.

The top and bottom of the map are also distinct. One side is a mix of open areas with hard cover separating them. The other is a blasted out building and an open dock area below it that connects to the lower street portion of the map.

Use Everything

Besides just being plain fun, it’s really good practice to experiment with everything in the game. That means all weapons, all Rigs, all equipment, all perks, all attachments, all scorestreaks. It’s a long list. This isn’t an overnight project. Rather, it’s something to work on over the course of weeks—or months!

Play with all of your options, especially if you think of yourself as a long range or short range only player. Spending some time sniping or rushing can teach you some valuable skills that are useful regardless of the role you prefer playing in combat.

When you put together loadouts, try to find combinations that work well together, particularly for different game modes. If you’ve never taken an objective using smoke or trophies, do so. If you’ve never used a bombardment setup with tons of explosives and tactical stuns, try that.

It’s fine to settle down with a specific role and set of weapons and gear once you know what you’re good with and enjoy using, but don’t miss out on the chance to stretch your skills. Learning what everyone else is capable of will aid you when you’re up against specific enemy loadouts.
