Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare eGuide Multiplayer Game Modes

Control Modes

Domination

Capture and hold the designated positions to gain points.

Domination pits both teams against each other in a contest of control point capture and hold. Three points are on the map: A, B, and C, with the first two located near the starting spawn locations, and the last typically placed in the center of the map.

Holding a point earns score for your team; more points means more score.

Domination is a halftime mode, so when half of the winning score is reached, the round stops and team spawns are flipped before resuming for the second half.

These are only the initial spawn locations. Once a match starts, team spawns can easily flip multiple times during a round (this typically occurs because spawns are usually anchored near friendly control points, so capturing an enemy spawn and posting up nearby tends to cause the enemy’s spawn to flip to the opposite point on the map).

As a team, securing two points and holding them is the easiest method for winning, because if you don’t press the final point, the enemy team will continue to spawn there, making their approaches to the center point quite predictable.

If you’re playing alone (or with a very small team), it’s difficult to coordinate this type of lock, so try to stay aware of teammate positions and which points are held. If you’re all alone by A and your team just secured C, it’s time to leave (or go dive in with an offensive payload weapon).

Hardpoint

Capture and hold zones to earn points for your team.

Hardpoint is a control point mode with the objective areas moving around the map in sequence.

Each Hardpoint is secured by having a teammate stand inside it (even one teammate works), with no enemies present. If a friendly player and enemy player are in the same Hardpoint, it is contested, and no score is awarded until one team owns it.

Hardpoints last a fixed amount of time, then shift to the next location in sequence, so you need to pay attention to the remaining time and know when to move on to the next point.

Anchoring the spawn for your teammates near a new Hardpoint is critical to winning, because if you are out of position, it is much more difficult to secure a point that the enemy team is already positioned (and respawning) near.

Beware of stacking too many players on the Hardpoint itself. They tend to be bombarded with explosives and scorestreaks constantly, and you only need a single player standing in the Hardpoint to hold it.

It’s usually a good idea to have one or two players in the point itself, hiding in hard cover or tough-to-sweep corners that make attacking players play losing guessing games.

It’s a bad idea to stack your whole team inside a point, so if you’re playing alone and you see a lot of players already on a point, move outside and try to pick off enemy players as they approach it.
