Frontier

Grid Map

The name of the map might fill your head with visions of open plains, but that’s about as far from this map as you can get—Frontier is a series of tight hallways and rooms situated on an orbiting space station.

Frontier is largely symmetrical, with only small differences on the far left and right sides.

The center of the map is a mix of crisscrossing hallways, with a diagonal hallway that travels beneath the main upper hallways.

There are a few points where you can jump up from below to the upper hallways, so be wary of enemies moving beneath you and getting behind you if you don’t spot any movement in the upper halls.

Cover in the hallways is limited, and marksmen or snipers at the ends of them can cause you a lot of grief, so don’t dally in the open. Move with purpose to your destination (or have such a weapon in your hands so you can cover the long sightlines).

The outer edges of the map are a series of comparatively larger rooms. They aren’t exactly massive, but they give a bit more breathing room than the tight halls through the middle of the map. Use the pillars and walls as cover when sweeping through them.

Objectives

Vantages

There’s Always a Pair

Whenever you take down an enemy player, always, always, always assume his buddy is coming to finish the job.

This is why sprinting carelessly is dangerous, why constantly reloading can get you killed, and why staying stationary after a kill is a bad idea.

An enemy can detect you by hearing you shooting (even if you have a suppressed weapon), by seeing bullet tracers, by seeing their teammates dot disappear, by seeing the death marker, by talking on voice chat, or by detecting you with any number of perks, traits, equipment, or scorestreaks.

The long and the short of it is that taking down an enemy is almost guaranteed to attract the attention of a second (or third!) enemy within a few seconds of a kill, and you need to be prepared for that.

The closer you are to the enemy spawn, the more enemies you can expect to encounter, but even in the midfield (and sometimes near your spawn in some objective modes). Don’t ever be surprised to encounter a follow-up enemy.

When you’re very close to the enemy spawn and you see an enemy run by, you may want to wait, rather than taking the easy kill. Odds are good you’re going to see another one or two players sprint past just a moment later, and as long as you’re concealed with a stealth loadout, taking down two or three enemies from behind is a better deal than downing the first and dying to the sprinting teammates behind them.
