Skylanders Trap Team Signature Series Strategy Guide › Villains

Trapped Villains

What could be more satisfying than showing a misguided being the error of their ways and giving them a chance to do good after being bad? With the elemental traps in Skylanders Trap Team, you have the opportunity to do that many times over!

When you defeat certain Villains during your adventure, place a trap of the proper element into the Traptanium Portal to capture the Villain and convince them to become good. They lend their abilities to your cause and often get a chance to perform good deeds in the form of quests.

Putting Villains to Good Use

Unless you’re completing their quest or at Skylanders Academy, when you tag Villains, a timer appears instead of a health bar. Unlike Skylanders, who need to rest when their health is depleted, Villains only need to return to their Elemental Trap to build up additional playing time. They are available to return to action as soon as the meter fills past the line on the left side of their timer. Villains are also a chatty bunch. They’ll provide audio clues when they’re ready to rejoin the fight.

Tips for Using Villains

Always have a Villain in the Traptanium Portal

There’s never a good reason not to have one ready. There are Treasure Chests, called Villain Stashes, only they can open. There are areas in the adventure where Villains are strong. And remember, they can’t steal from your Skylander because…

XP Bubbles and Gold collected by the Villain go to your Skylander

If your Skylander is low on health but just needs a little more XP to level up, tag in your Villain and your Skylander still levels up while off-screen. However, you do need to switch to eat the food that appears. Villains ignore food.

For Arena Challenges and fights against Doom Raiders, save your Villain for stages where you can’t attack

You know those times when the big, bad boss jumps out of reach, rains down destruction, and there’s nothing you can do but avoid the beams or blades or floor made of lava? Save your Villain timers for those times. If you mistime a jump or don’t quite reach cover, all you lose is a bit of time that regenerates after you tag in your Skylander.

Build Villain/Skylander teams that have complementary abilities.

For example, use Chill Bill to freeze enemies in place, then tag in Fling Kong who can charge up Make It Rain! without the worry of taking damage. There’s almost no limit to what different combinations of Villains and Skylanders can do. Play around and have fun!
