Gusto was once a cloud wrangler in the peaceful Thunderclap Kingdom, where he learned to master the wind under the guidance of the mysterious Cloud Dragon. But a day came when a fleet of dragon hunters appeared on the horizon, seeking to capture the fabled creature. Despite the danger, Gusto stepped forward to defend it. The hunters could see that Gusto was not a soldier and didn’t even have a real weapon—just a “curved stick.” However, he was no coward! And, throwing his large boomerang, Gusto hit his surprised opponents again and again—until the hunters surrendered and were forced to retreat. For standing up for himself and protecting the Cloud Dragon, Gusto was given a new Traptanium Boomerang and made part of the Trap Team!
Basic Attack Notes
Traptanium Boomerang
After throwing a Traptanium Boomerang, press Attack 1 to recall it faster.
Inhaler
Gusto must be stationary while inhaling or exhaling (jumping cancels both). If he’s moving, he stops immediately. He can spin in place, but he can’t advance.
Twistin’ in the Wind
Hold button to extend spinning time up to 3 seconds. You can still steer Gusto while he spins.
Upgrade Paths
Air Ace
Rang Me Like a Hurricane’s hurricanes spawn only when an enemy or object takes damage and you can’t control where they go. Boomerang Buddies appears each time Gusto throws a Traptanium Boomerang, with up to three appearing at the same time. The three buddies orbit him, damaging enemies (they ignore objects). Buddies exist for a brief time or until Gusto throws a Traptanium Boomerang when three Buddies are already out.
Dizzy Destroyer
Gusto must deal damage with Twistin’ in the Wind to spawn hurricanes with the Spin Like the Wind upgrade. When Gusto earns Lightning Ball, you can roll through packs of enemies, leaving them shocked (if he has the Shocking Twist upgrade) and pummeled with hurricanes. Gusto isn’t invulnerable while in lightning form, so watch out for ranged attacks and other hazards in the area.
Soul Gem Ability
Boomerangs 4 Breakfast: 4000
Inhale a Traptanium Boomerang in the air for a super-powered attack.
