Nobody is quite sure who Pop Fizz was before he became an alchemist, least of all Pop Fizz himself. After many years of experimenting with magical potions, his appearance has changed quite significantly. In fact, no one even knows his original color. But it’s widely known that he is a little crazy, his experiments are reckless, and the accidents they cause are too numerous to measure. Understandably, he has had a difficult time finding lab partners, or anyone that even wants to be near him. In hopes of making himself more appealing to others, he attempted to create the most effective charm potion ever—but that just turned him into a big, wild, berserker. Or maybe that’s just how he saw the potion working in the first place…
Basic Attack Notes
Potion Lob
Undehand toss at distant enemies, downward smash when a target is extremely close.
Beast Form
Limited duration, slow start, and has a cooldown. Don’t activate this in a crowd!
New Concotion
Starts with one potion and learns two others, each with different effects.
Upgrade Paths
Mad Scientist
The Mad Scientist Path is all about the Mixologist upgrade. Learn how to combine the potion effects (such as putting a green potion puddle on the ground and guiding mobile purple potions vials into it) and what the effects are (continuing the previous example, it’s poisoned vials chasing down enemies).
Best of the Beast
The Best of the Beast Path allows Pop Fizz to stay in Beast Form longer and adds potion-based attacks, with Attack 3. Yellow is a flame attack, green is a flailing attack that hits multiple times, and purple is a lunging ground pound. If you like mixing it up in close quarters, this is the path for you.
Soul Gem Ability
Shake It!: 4000
Repeatedly press Attack 3 to shake the potion bottle until it explodes. Prerequisite: New Concoction
Big build up, big payoff ability. You must press Attack 3 rapidly and fill the on-screen meter before you get the massive explosion. Being hit by enemies does not reduce the amount of meter that has been filled. If Pop Fizz is at full health, don’t be shy about using this in a crowd.
Basic Attacks
Potion Lob
Press Attack 1 to launch Pop Fizz’s currently equipped potion.
Beast Form
Press Attack 2 to drink a potion and temporarily change into a beast form.
Upgrades
New Concotion: 500
Press Attack 3 to switch to a new potion that can walk on two legs and fight by your side when thrown.
Puddle of Pain: 700
Press Attack 3 again to switch to a new potion that leaves a damaging puddle of acid when thrown. Prerequisite: New Concotion
Raging Best: 900
All attacks in Beast Form do additional damage.
Dextrous Delivery: 1200
Throw potions and grab new ones much faster.
Mad Scientist Path
Further Develop Pop Fizz’s potion attacks.
Master Chemist: 1700
All potions do increased damage and have improved effects.
Mixologist: 2200
Mix the effects of different colored potions for brand new effects.
All In: 3000
Hold Attack 1 to pull up to three potions out and release to throw them all at once.
Best of the Beast Path
Further develop Pop Fizz’s Beast Form attacks.
More Beast!: 1700
Beast Form meter drains slower and recharges faster.
Mutant Beast: 2200
In Beast Form, Press Attack 3 to perform a special attack based on which potion is active.
Beserker Boost: 3000
In Beast Form, damaging enemies recharges the Beast Form meter.
Wow Pow!
Oversize ME!: 5000
Repeatedly press Attack 2 to swallow a potion whole and become a Super Beast with overloaded attacks
Oversize ME! almost makes Best of the Beast Path mandatory for Fizzy Frenzy Pop Fizz. Every upgrade from that Path works when Pop Fizz is oversized. Pop Fizz’s speed increases as the amount of meter left decreases.
