Gill Grunt was a brave soul who joined the Gillmen military in search of adventure. While journeying through a misty lagoon in the clouds, he met an enchanting mermaid. He vowed to return to her after his tour. Keeping his promise, he came back to the lagoon years later, only to learn a nasty band of pirates had kidnapped the mermaid. Heartbroken, Gill Grunt began searching all over Skylands. Though he had yet to find her, he joined the Skylanders to help protect others from such evil, while still keeping an ever-watchful eye for the beautiful mermaid and the pirates who took her.

Basic Attack Notes

Harpoon Gun

Slight delay between blasts. Watch for new harpoon to appear to know when to fire.

Power Hose

Significantly slows down Gill Grunt while active. Usable with Water Jetpack, but not while jumping.

Water Jetpack

Must be on the ground to initiate Water Jetpack. Lasts for three seconds maximum, unless you choose Water Weaver Path.

Upgrade Paths

Harpooner

The Harpooner Path is more effective for battles against multiple enemies. Piercing Harpoons and Tripleshot Harpoon increase the number of enemies hit by each shot, both of which come in handy when you’re working through Arenas and Kaos Doom Challenges.

Water Weaver

Power Hose and Jetpack get big boosts from the Water Weaver Path. Use Power Hose to punish melee-focused characters and keep them at bay even longer (never running out of water is an incredible perk). Power Hose doesn’t have the range of Harpoon Gun, so work on steering with Water Jetpack activated to quickly close the distance on ranged enemies.

Soul Gem Ability

Anchor Cannon: 4000

Hold Attack 1 to charge Anchor Cannon.

Prepare Anchor Cannon when you see enemies stacked up and waiting in the distance. Its charge up time (plus the fact that it doesn’t track enemies and slows down Gill Grunt) makes it difficult to use effectively when you’re already engaged with enemies.

Basic Attacks

Harpoon Gun

Press Attack 1 to shoot high-velocity harpoons at your enemies.

Power Hose

Press and hold Attack 2 to spray water at your enemies to knock them back.

Upgrades

Further Develop Gill Grunt’s Harpoon Attacks

Harpoons travel straight through enemies and hit new targets.

Tripleshot Harpoon: 3000

Shoot three Harpoons at once.

Water Weaver Path

Further Develop Gill Grunt’s Power Hose and Jetpack skills

Reserve Water Tank: 1700

The Power Hose and Water Jetpack never run out of water.

Boiling Water Hose: 2200

Power Hose attack does even MORE increased damage.

Neptune Gun: 3000

When using the Power Hose, press Attack 1 to launch exploding creatures.

Wow Pow!

Ride the Leviathan!: 5000

In Jet Pack Mode, press Attack 2 to ride a giant Leviathan, taking out anything in its path. Prerequisite: Water Jetpack

The Leviathan remains under your control over its duration (don’t expect to make sharp turns) and ends with a big splash. It deals damage to everything it touches, destroying objects and enemies alike. Keep in mind that Gill Grunt remains vulnerable to any attack that can reach him on the aquatic beast’s back.
