Chapter 3: Chompy Mountain

Mabu Landing Pier & Old Mabu Town

The path to Old Mabu Town is blocked by a wooden gate. Ignore the gate for now. Head to the right and grab the Winged Sapphire floating above the wooden planks. Next, continue straight ahead from the starting point for Sheep Creep’s quest.

Go up the ramp and destroy the wooden gate at the end of the docks. Buzz asks you to talk to three Mabu and gain their assistance. They’re on the timid side, so approaching them causes them to flee inside their houses. The Mabu closest to Buzz is Snuckles. Follow him inside his home.

Snuckles’ House & Rizzo’s House

Approaching Snuckles restores his confidence. Don’t follow him until after you interact with the Troll Radio and get its loot.

Rizzo is the next Mabu to recruit. Use the Bomb inside the house to gain his help. Destroy the wooden barricade in his home to reveal stairs that end at a Magic Gate.

Wishing Well & Nort’s House

Grab the Bomb from Rizzo’s house and carry it outside. Use it to blast open the covering on the town’s Wishing Well. Jump down the well, collect the piles of valuables, and smash the Traptanium crystal to reveal a Treasure Chest. Return to the surface to talk with the final Mabu, Nort.

Follow Nort into his house. Open the Villain Stash on the right, then go to the back of the room and jump on the flashing button. When the platform reaches the top level, Nort rides it back down. Jump to the right to get Gusto’s Soul Gem (Boomerangs 4 Breakfast).

Spinner’s Landing

The three Mabu work together to open the gate. A Battle Gate blocks the path ahead, and you must defeat a small group of Trolls to take it down. Interact with the Chompy-topped coil to open one of the locks to a large gate in the distance. Cross the newly-constructed bridge to reach Overgrown Ramparts.

Overgrown Ramparts

The Chompy Mage introduces himself by destroying the bridge. Avoid the Chompy Mage’s attacks (stay clear of the yellow crosshairs on the ground) and return fire with the cannons in the area. You must move the cannons to get a clear shot, but two hits are enough to convince the Chompy Mage to leave.

The Mabu build another bridge, but the path ends at a wooden gate. Follow the stone path to the left (away from the wooden gate) for Bruiser Cruiser’s quest. To complete the quest, you must first capture Bruiser Cruiser. He just happens to be waiting for you on the other side of the wooden gate.

Spin the Chompy-topped spire beyond where you fought Bruiser Cruiser. Backtrack to the quest, or head down the wooden path away from gate.

Mountain Falls Lagoon

The wooden path leads to Mountain Falls Lagoon. Drop into the water, walk to the right, and look for a Traptanium crystal. Destroy the crystal to reveal Wallop’s Soul Gem (Now That’s A Hammer!). Wade past the Mabu Defense Force and solve the Lock Puzzle.

This puzzle has a new element, a cracked block. The block cracks each time it is hit until it is destroyed. Go left, up, right, down, then left, up, right to collect all the coins. Go left, down, right, and up to reach the exit.

The second stage of the lock has fire. Touching fire returns the Lock Master back to the starting point. Go down and left to collect the coin. Go right, up, left, down, and down again to clear the stage.

Troll Fortress

As soon as the lock falls away, get ready for a fight against a horde of Chompies supported by two types of Trolls and a Broccoli Guy. Broccoli Guys are the primary targets when they appear since they have the ability to heal their allies. Villains are stronger here, so it’s a good time to try out the recently-upgraded Bruiser Cruiser, but any Villain will enjoy the same benefits.

With the enemies defeated, spin the Chompy-topped coil but don’t follow Mabu just yet. Follow the stone path away from the Mabu Defense Force. Jump up to speak with Persephone if any Skylanders have enough gold for upgrades. Use the buttons to collect the coins floating over their platforms.

Follow the stone path around to a small house and a Story Scroll. The house is home to K-Troll Troll Radio. Bushwack’s Soul Gem (Timber) is at the end of the path.

K-TROLL Troll Radio

Rocky wants Chill Bill’s help with his radio station. There are also a few Troll Radios in the room that you can’t reach without Chill Bill’s assistance.

Chompy Mountain

Cross the bridge built by the Mabu Defense Force and enter Chompy Mountain. Your first task is to rescue the Mabu Defense Force. Destroy the wooden gate near Buzz. Use the cannon at the bottom of the ramp to destroy the two Chompy Head statues and knock down the wooden gate.

Rizzo’s Rescue

Chompies and a Slobber Trap rush out to attack. Either move ahead to meet them or backtrack to the cannon and blast them when they try to squeeze through the gate. Defeating the enemies opens Rizzo’s gate, but don’t join him immediately. Destroy the Traptanium crystal to open the path to Artillery Storage. An Undead gate is nearby as well. Join Rizzo on the elevator after exploring both areas.

Artillery Storage

Destroy the objects in the room to reveal a Treasure Chest. The lone Mabu in the room, Bungo, is a Skystones Smash player. Note his location for a return trip after you learn how to play Skystones Smash.

Nort’s Rescue & Chompy Hatchery

Destroy the wooden fence on the left to reveal the Legendary Chompy Statue. Use the nearby cannon to blast the Chompy Head statue. You can also use the cannon to take out the Trolls guarding Nort if you don’t want to fight them directly.

Walk around the short wall the cannon rests against and step on the button to drop the wall into the ground. Push the cannon over until you have a clear shot at the gate marked with the Bomb icon. The newly opened path leads to Chompy Hatchery and a fight against Broccoli Guy. Walk over to Nort afterward to move on and rescue Snuckles.

Snuckles’ Rescue

Push the blocks to open the path. Push the center block over the edge to smash a Chompy Head statue. If you destroyed the other three previously, you earn the Statue Smasher Achievement.

Drop down on the left side and take out the Troll below. Collect the valuables and use the Bounce Pad to get to the enemies above. To free Snuckles, defeat the enemies near his cage, then defeat the reinforcements that come up the underground path.

Chompy Head Spire

Stand next to Snuckles to ride up to Chompy Head Spire. Run up the stone steps where you fight against the Chompy Mage.

Back at Skylanders Academy

Talk to Mags in the Main Hall. She opens an area of the Main Hall that has a slot machine. Give it a spin to claim your reward. If you found the Legendary Chompy Statue, interact with the yellow “?” in the middle of the red carpet nearby. Talk to Flynn to fly to your next destination, The Phoenix Psanctuary.
