Remember all of those little frogs that you’ve seen around Termina? Well, it’s time to see what they can do for you.
Frog #1
Save and rewind to the Dawn of the First Day, then slow down time as usual. Soar to Snowhead, put on the Goron Mask, and then play the Goron Lullaby to get rid of the giant, invisible Goron that blocks Snowhead Temple. Enter the temple, and skip to the boss battle against Goht. Defeat Goht by repeatedly rolling into the boss as Goron Link.
With Goht defeated, the blizzard ends and the mountain thaws. You’re returned to Mountain Village; locate a nearby frog that’s hopping up and down behind you. Put on Don Gero’s Mask, which you received by feeding the big hunk of meat to the hungry Goron during your initial explorations of the mountains, and speak to the frog.
The frog believes you are Don Gero and says that he’s been waiting for you. The frog is ready to begin a special chorus, but unfortunately, not all of the other frogs have gathered. A quick count of the lily pads shows that you must locate four more frogs around Termina. Time to get started!
Frog #2
This one’s easy. Just warp to Clock Town, and speak to the frog that hops up and down near the tree in the Laundry Pool. (The Laundry Pool is located in Clock Town’s southwest corner.) Remember to wear Don Gero’s Mask when you talk to the frog.
Frog #3
Warp to Woodfall next, then put on the Deku Mask and play the Sonata of Awakening to raise Woodfall Temple. Launch from the nearby Deku Flower to reach the temple, then enter it.
Don’t skip to the boss battle this time. Instead, use the first room’s Deku Flowers to glide over to the high north door. Beware of the Skulltulas that guard the north ledge.
In the next room, light the big central flower’s brazier with a Fire Arrow. (Aim for the top of the brazier.) This activates the flower, causing it to rise and spin like a big platform. Hop on, and use the flower platform to reach the room’s north ledge. Circle around to the east door, and step on the nearby floor switch to lower the ladders before going through the door.
In the next room, circle around to the south ledge, and shoot the far eye switch with an arrow. This causes the central Deku Flower platform to move up and down like an elevator. Use the nearby Deku Flower to float to the platform, then use the platform’s flower to glide to the north door. Go through to advance to the mini-boss battle against the Gekko.
Lock on, and hit the Gekko with Link’s sword until it calls for its Snapper steed. Put on the Deku Mask and dive into a Deku Flower, then pop out and knock the Gekko off the Snapper as he zips past. The Gekko then flees to the walls and ceiling; lock on, and hit him with an arrow to knock him down. Repeat this until you defeat the Gekko.
After you best the Gekko, he transforms into a little frog. Put on Don Gero’s Mask, and speak to the frog to add another member to your growing choir.
Frog #4
After defeating the Gekko and speaking to the frog, play the Song of Soaring, and return to the temple’s entrance. This time, step into the light and advance to the boss battle against Odolwa.
You’re far more powerful than when you first fought Odolwa, so don’t hold back. Put on the Deku Mask and burrow into a Deku Flower. Glide over Odolwa and drop a Deku Nut on his head to stun him, then take off the Deku Mask and punish Odolwa with Link’s sword. Keep it up to quickly defeat Odolwa and purify the waters around the Southern Swamp.
Exit the temple after defeating Odolwa (sorry, Deku Princess), and soar to the Southern Swamp. The swamp waters are pure, so have no fear. Tread through the shallow water, heading through the southeast tunnel. Keep going until you locate a long, flat log that’s lying in the water. A frog hops up and down on this log; talk to it with Don Gero’s Mask on, and the fourth frog is added to the Mountain Village choir.
Frog #5
The final frog is found in the Great Bay Temple. Soar to Zora Cape, put on the Zora Mask, and then play the New Wave Bossa Nova song for Lulu. Hookshot one of the palm trees on the giant turtle’s back after it emerges from the ocean, and then travel to the temple.
Don’t skip to the boss, but enter the north door to reach the Waterwheel Room. Put on the Zora Mask, and turn the underwater spinner in the room’s northeast corner to start up a water geyser. Then, use the east elevator platform to reach the high east ledge. Watch out for the two Skulltulas as you hop across the water geyser and head for the high north passage, which leads to the Main Chamber.
Dive into the Main Chamber’s deep water pool and swim through the high southeast tunnel (the one with the red and green pipes running into it). You’ll arrive in the Dungeon Map Chamber. Sink to the bottom, and throw Zora Link’s fins to defeat the two Dexihands that guard the underwater tunnel. Then, swim through the tunnel to reach the Bio Deku Baba tunnel. Surface and go through the northwest door to reach the Compass Chamber.
In the Compass Chamber, use Ice Arrows to create two ice platforms to the north passage with the big icicles. Hop across and smash through the icicles, then use a Fire Arrow to melt the frozen door. Go through to reach the second mini-boss battle against the Gekko.
-Target the Gekko and pull the villain close with the Hookshot, then slash it with Link’s steel—or simply shoot Gekko with arrows from afar. Either way, lock on again after the Gekko flees to the ceiling, and shoot the monster with an Ice Arrow to send it crashing down. Rinse and repeat until the Gekko is a goner.
Again, the Gekko reverts to a little frog after you defeat it. Speak to the frog while wearing Don Gero’s Mask to add the final frog to the Mountain Village choir. Soar back to the temple’s entrance afterward, then move to one side of the giant turtle, and Hookshot one of the palm trees on its back to hitch a ride back to Zora Cape. When you arrive, play the Song of Soaring again and soar to Mountain Village.
A Lovely Choir
Go south from the Mountain Village owl statue to locate the five frogs you’ve found. They’re all present and accounted for, so put on Don Gero’s Mask and speak to them. Tell the frogs to sing, and they’ll start croaking away. Your efforts net you a Piece of Heart.
Piece of Heart #41
You got a Piece of Heart! Collect four Pieces of Heart to assemble a new Heart Container. Each new container you put together increases the amount of life energy you can have.
Save Your Progress
You’ve cleared the Great Bay Temple, restored the Great Fairy of Courage, and assembled the froggy choir. That’s enough for one run, wouldn’t you say? More feats await accomplishment around Termina now that you’ve obtained the Ice Arrow, so save your progress and reset time before resuming your adventures.
