The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask 3D eGuide Walkthrough Chapter 1: The Mischievous Skull Kid

Boss Battle: Skull Kid

That awful Skull Kid must be stopped! But the truth is that you’re no match for him in your current form. Still, all is not lost. -Target the Skull Kid, and then hold to blow a bubble. Release to shoot the bubble at the Skull Kid, and you’ll knock the Ocarina of Time from his grasp.

Nice shot! Now hurry over and collect the Ocarina of Time; it’s your only hope!

Ocarina of Time

You got the Ocarina of Time back! Princess Zelda gave you this precious instrument. Equip it, and play it.

Musical Interlude

Upon reclaiming the Ocarina of Time, Link is overwhelmed by a vision of his recent past. He recalls the day that he left Hyrule, the same day that Princess Zelda gave him the ocarina to keep. The Princess taught him an important song that day: the Song of Time.

Turning back Time

Back in the real world, the Skull Kid still seeks to bring the moon crashing down. Your bubbles can’t harm him—in fact, there’s nothing you can do to stop him. If only you had more time…

Wait a minute, that’s it: the Ocarina of Time! Somehow aware of Link’s curse, the magical instrument has adapted itself to become a set of blaring Deku Pipes. Pull out the Deku Pipes by tapping the Deku Pipes button, which now appears in the bottom-left corner of the Touch Screen. Then, play the Song of Time that Zelda taught you (, , , , , ).

Back to the Past

Playing the Song of Time calls forth the magic of the Goddess of Time. After a disorienting flash of memories and visions, Link finds himself back in Clock Town. Sure enough, it’s the Dawn of the First Day again. The whole town has returned to its original state, and the moon is back in its original position. Everything is as it was when Link first arrived. What a trip!

Breaking Link’s Curse

Shocked and disoriented, Tatl can hardly believe what has happened. Recovering from her amazement, the little fairy reminds Link that the mask salesman they met inside the Clock Tower promised to return Link to human form if he recovered the Ocarina of Time. That’s right, he did!

The Clock Tower is close nearby, so head inside and speak with the mask salesman. Thrilled at Link’s success, the unusual man wastes no time in teaching our hero a new song: the Song of Healing.

Follow the mask salesman’s instructions, and play the Song of Healing by pressing , , , , , . Once played, Link’s curse is at last broken, and he returns to his normal heroic form.

The mask salesman informs Link that the Song of Healing is a special melody that heals evil magic and turns troubled spirits into masks. He’s certain that this song can help Link in the future, and he’s not wrong.

The mask salesman also gives Link a special mask in commemoration of this day: the Deku Mask. He tells Link not to fear the mask, for the Song of Healing has sealed its magic away. Link will only transform into a Deku Scrub while he wears the mask; whenever he takes it off, he’ll return to his normal human form.

Deku Mask

You got the Deku Mask to keep as a memento! Equip and wear the mask to inhabit the body of a Deku. Take it off to return to normal.

The Legend of Majora’s Mask

The mask salesman has kept his word, but Link wasn’t able to do the same. The Skull Kid still has the salesman’s precious mask.

Horrified, the mask salesman informs Link that the Skull Kid has stolen none other than Majora’s Mask, an accursed item used by an ancient tribe during hexing rituals. It is said that an evil and wicked power is bestowed upon the one who wears Majora’s Mask. Legends say that the mask was sealed away to prevent its misuse, but the tribe that once used the mask has vanished. None remains who know the true nature and extent of its power.

Clearly, reclaiming Majora’s Mask is of the utmost importance, but the mask salesman has no further advice to give. Link is on his own now. Still, the mask salesman believes that our hero is up to the task. Let’s hope so!

Bombers’ Notebook

After recounting his troubling tale, the mask salesman gives Link one final gift: the Bombers’ Notebook. The mask salesman found it on the ground and hopes it may be of some use.

Bombers’ Notebook

You got the Bombers’ Notebook! It allows you to keep track of people’s schedules. Press or Select to access the Event Notes screen, then touch the Schedule button on the Touch Screen to read it.
