Link has freed all four guardian spirits from their curses, and he’s also accomplished every heroic feat that’s doable throughout Termina. At last, the time has come for our hero to challenge the Skull Kid. The trials ahead will be difficult, but Link has grown strong. Nothing can stop him from saving the land from destruction!
Stopping the Skull Kid
In order to save Termina, you’ll need to confront the Skull Kid atop Clock Town’s Clock Tower. Remember how to do this? You must obtain the Moon’s Tear by gazing at the Skull Kid through the observatory telescope. Trade the Moon’s Tear to the Business Scrub that lives in the Deku Flower near the Clock Tower for the Town Title Deed, and you’ll be able to use his Deku Flower. Launch up from the flower and glide onto the Clock Tower, then use the Song of Double Time to advance to midnight (12 a.m.) on the Night of the Final Day. Climb to the Clock Tower’s roof after it opens.
High atop the Clock Tower, a familiar scene plays out. Wielding the power of Majora’s Mask, the Skull Kid flies through the air, taunting you. Don’t bother battling the Skull Kid—you can’t harm him. Instead, whip out your Deku Pipes (or any other instrument), and play the Oath to Order.
The Oath to Order’s commanding melody calls forth the four guardian spirits that Link has freed throughout Termina. Using their combined might, these ancient giants manage to halt the moon’s descent. You’ve done it!
Suddenly, the Skull Kid’s mask—Majora’s Mask—begins to speak. The cursed mask says that it no longer needs the “puppet” that it’s been occupying, and it removes itself from the Skull Kid. Majora’s Mask promptly flees into the moon’s yawning mouth, leaving the Skull Kid behind, unconscious.
It’s now clear that Majora’s Mask itself is a demon that’s to blame for all of the trouble around Termina, not the Skull Kid. Worse, it seems to be strengthening the moon’s descent, and the giants are really struggling to hold it now. You must do something. Hurry into the moon’s mouth in pursuit of Majora’s Mask.
