What would Majora’s Mask 3D be without all of those wacky masks? Link can find and wear 24 unique masks over the course of his adventure, many of which are meant to help him complete optional quests. Every mask has a purpose, so take a closer look at each one.
All-Night Mask
This mask is sold at the Curiosity Shop in West Clock Town for 500 Rupees during the Night of the Final Day. You can’t buy it until you obtain the Giant Wallet, which lets Link carry up to 500 Rupees. Additionally, the All-Night Mask only appears if you stop the thief from robbing the old lady from the Bomb Shop. Go to North Clock Town around midnight on the Night of the First Day and stop the thief, then go to the Curiosity Shop after 10 p.m. on the Night of the Final Day to find the All-Night Mask for sale.
Once you have the All-Night Mask, rewind to the Dawn of the First Day, and go to the Stock Pot Inn. Put on the All-Night Mask, and speak with Anju’s grandmother on the first floor. Listen to her story about the Carnival of Time, then answer her question with “on the eve of the festival” to receive a Piece of Heart. Listen to her other story and say “I dunno” afterward to receive another Piece of Heart. That’s worth about 500 Rupees, right?
Blast Mask
Around midnight on the First Day, the old lady who works at the Bomb Shop in West Clock Town gets robbed by an evil thief in North Clock Town. If you’re there to witness the act, you can stop the thief by striking him with Link’s sword. The thief escapes, but not with the old lady’s possessions. She rewards your good deed with the Blast Mask, which lets Link create bomb-like explosions directly in front of him. Hold 
before exploding to shield Link from the Blast Mask’s volatile effect.
Bremen Mask
At night during the First and Second Day, a musician named Guru-Guru practices his craft by Clock Town’s Laundry Pool. Speak to him as normal Link, and he’ll tell you a tale. When the story concludes, Guru-Guru hands you a special mask that has the power to make tiny animals march.Go to the Cucco Shack near Romani Ranch, and use the Bremen Mask to make all 10 cucco chicks march behind you. When all 10 chicks are following you, they’ll suddenly grow into adult cuccos. The fellow who runs the Cucco Shack then gives you the Bunny Hood as thanks for cheering him up.
Bunny Hood
After obtaining the Bremen Mask, go to the Cucco Shack near Romani Ranch, and use it to make all 10 cucco chicks march behind you. When all 10 chicks are following you, they’ll suddenly grow into adult cuccos, and the fellow who runs the Cucco Shack gives you the Bunny Hood. This excellent mask lets Link run faster and jump farther than normal, hastening his travels.
Captain’s Hat
When Link finds Epona, he’s able to ride east into Ikana Road and visit Ikana Graveyard. Play the Sonata of Awakening before the giant skeleton here, and it springs to life! Stun the skeleton with arrows and chase after it, then hit it with Link’s sword to begin battle. Defeat the skeleton to receive the Captain’s Hat.
The Captain’s Hat lets Link converse with Stalchildren. Speak to the ones that are circling one of the graves, and order them to open it. You’ll then be able to explore a secret underground tomb. You can visit three different sections of the tomb by having the Stalchildren open up a different grave each night.
Couple’s Mask
This special mask commemorates the love shared by two people. It’s given to Link by Kafei and Anju at the Stock Pot Inn after the hero succeeds in uniting the two lovers.
Put on the Couple’s Mask, and visit the Mayor’s Official Residence in East Clock Town. Speak to the Mayor in his office while wearing the Couple’s Mask, and you’ll really save his bacon. He’ll be so glad to have his meeting over with that he’ll reward your intervention with a Piece of Heart.
Deku Mask
The very first mask that Link finds, the Deku Mask lets Link take the form of a little Deku Scrub at will. The mask salesman gives Link the Deku Mask after the lad reclaims the Ocarina of Time from the Skull Kid. Use the Deku Mask to assume Deku Link form, which is handy whenever you need to use a Deku Flower or hop across water.
Don Gero’s Mask
While exploring Termina’s frigid mountains, Link encounters a hungry Goron that’s stuck on a ledge. Give this Goron a hunk of rock sirloin, which you can find inside the Goron Shrine after you calm the Goron Elder’s son with the Goron Lullaby, and he’ll give you the funky mask that he’s wearing: Don Gero’s Mask.Once you have Don Gero’s Mask, you can talk to the little frogs that you may have seen around Termina. There are five frogs to find, and if you speak to them all while wearing Don Gero’s Mask, they’ll all head for Mountain Village to sing in the froggy choir. Thaw out the mountain by defeating the boss of Snowhead Temple, then find the following five frogs and talk to them with Don Gero’s Mask on. Your reward is a Piece of Heart.
Frog #1: Mountain Village (in the river after the thaw)
Frog #2: Clock Town (near the Laundry Pool)
Frog #3: Woodfall Temple (appears after you defeat the Gekko mini-boss)
Frog #4: Southern Swamp (sitting on a log to the southeast)
Frog #5: Great Bay Temple (appears after you defeat the Gekko mini-boss)
Fierce Deity’s Mask
The ultimate mask, the Fierce Deity’s Mask transforms Link into a towering warrior of the gods. It can only be used during boss battles. While wearing it, Link can shoot beams of energy from his sword at anything he has 
-Targeted. These energy beams pass through defenses to stun and damage boss enemies with tremendous power. You’ll be beating bosses with ease!
Obtaining the Fierce Deity’s Mask takes some effort. First, you must find all of the other 23 wearable masks. Then, just before the game’s final battle, you must play four challenging games of hide-and-seek with four masked children. Beat all four games and give away all 20 of Link’s non-transformation masks, and you’ll receive the Fierce Deity’s Mask just before you enter the final battle. Don’t worry: the next time you load your game, all of your masks will be back!
Garo’s Mask
A pair of scheming brothers known as the Gorman Bros. run a racetrack along Milk Road. Once Link has been reunited with Epona, he can challenge the Gorman Brothers to a race around their track. Speak to them from horseback, and then pay 10 Rupees to start the race. Dodge obstacles and use Epona’s sprints wisely to win the race, and the Gorman Bros. will give you the Garo’s Mask.You need the Garo’s Mask to reach Ikana Canyon, making it a mandatory mask. Wear it, and speak to the Garo atop the high cliff at Ikana Road’s east end. He’ll recognize the mask and create a tree that Link can Hookshot to reach Ikana Canyon.
Giant’s Mask
This mask has but one purpose: to help Link defeat Twinmold, the boss of the Stone Tower Temple. Obtain the Giant’s Mask during the boss battle, and then use it to grow Link into a giant. Link can’t use his sword or shield at this size, but he can punish Twinmold with his devastating blows. Grab Twinmold’s tail each time you knock it down, and Giant Link will send it for a spin!
Gibdo Mask
Link finds this creepy mask during his explorations of Ikana Canyon. Go to the Spring Water Cave, and play the Song of Storms to break Sharp’s curse and start the water flowing down to the Music Box House. This gets rid of the Gibdos that are circling the house. Then, sneak into the house’s front door without letting the little girl near the river see you (use the Stone Mask if possible). Once you’re inside the house, go downstairs and play the Song of Healing to break the little girl’s father’s curse. You’ll then receive the Gibdo Mask, which lets Link talk to Gibdos and causes nearby ReDeads to start dancing. The Gibdo Mask helps Link explore Ikana’s underground ruin and discover the Mirror Shield.
Goron Mask
While struggling to save the Gorons in Termina’s frozen mountain, Link ends up discovering the Goron Mask, one of the three vital transformation masks that the lad must find. While wearing this mask, Link transforms into a burly Goron that can roll up slopes and batter enemies with mighty blows. Like the Deku Mask, the Goron Mask comes into play at many different points in Link’s journey.
Great Fairy’s Mask
The first time that Link restores the Great Fairy who lives in Clock Town, he’ll be in Deku Link form and be gifted the use of magic power. Restore Clock Town’s Great Fairy again as human Link, and she’ll give you the Great Fairy’s Mask. This mask is useful in temples, where Link can find and rescue a number of Stray Fairies. Put on the Great Fairy’s Mask to attract nearby Stray Fairies. Find all of the Stray Fairies in a temple, then bring them back to the region’s Fairy’s Fountain and restore the local Great Fairy. You’re sure to receive a worthy reward.
Kafei’s Mask
Visit the Mayor’s Official Residence in East Clock Town, and speak with the woman in yellow in the sitting room. She takes Link for an investigator that she hired to find her missing son, Kafei. Agree to help the woman, and she’ll give you Kafei’s Mask to aid you in your search. Put on Kafei’s Mask, and then talk to people around town to learn about Kafei’s troubled love affair with Anju, the woman who works at the Stock Pot Inn. Speak to Anju while wearing Kafei’s Mask after the postman delivers her a letter at 2 p.m. on the First Day to advance this sizzling subplot.
Kamaro’s Mask
At midnight, a dancing spirit appears atop one of the big rock formations in Termina’s northern snowfield. Carefully walk along the top of the wall north of town, and look for the spirit to appear at precisely midnight amidst a circle of stones. Leap over and speak to the spirit, then play the Song of Healing to obtain Kamaro’s Mask. Bring the mask back to Clock Town, and wear it in front of the dancers in West Clock Town. Dance for them to teach them some new moves and receive a Piece of Heart.
Keaton Mask
Link is given this mask during the course of his search for the missing Clock Town citizen Kafei. Put it on and go to North Clock Town, then find the tall grass circle near the playground. Pick up the middle tall grass bundle, and then simply wait as the rest skitter away. Suddenly, a multi-tailed fox called Keaton appears. Answer Keaton’s five questions correctly, and he’ll reward your knowledge of Termina lore with a Piece of Heart. You can find all the answers by paying attention as you play.
Mask of Scents
After clearing Woodfall Temple and returning the Deku Princess to Deku Palace, Link is able to visit a special place called the Deku Shrine. Swim around the palace’s west side to find the shrine, then put on the Bunny Hood and chase the Deku Butler all the way through to the end. He’ll give you the Mask of Scents, which Link can use to discover Magic Mushrooms around the Southern Swamp. Bottle a Magic Mushroom and bring it to the Magic Hags’ Potion Shop, and they’ll brew up some Blue Potion.
Mask of Truth
Link’s explorations of the Southern Swamp lead him to a mysterious spider-filled house. If Link manages to slay all of the Gold Skulltulas in the house and collect their spirits within a single day, the cursed man at the entrance will give him the Mask of Truth. While wearing this mask, Link can hear the thoughts of animals by picking them up over his head. He can also hear words of wisdom by listening to the Gossip Stones that appear around Termina (the stones that tell you the time when you strike them with Link’s sword).
Postman’s Hat
During his effort to help reunite Clock Town’s troubled lovebirds, Kafei and Anju, Link is given a Special Delivery to Mama that he must deliver to Kafei’s mom, Madame Aroma. Go to the Post Office in West Clock Town, and ask the postman to make the delivery for you during the Night of the Final Day (any time after 6 p.m.). Then, follow the postman to the Latte Milk Bar in East Clock Town. Wait outside the bar as he makes his delivery, then speak to the postman after he returns and pauses near the east gate. He’ll tell you that he’s skipping town, and he gives you the Postman’s Hat as a keepsake. Put on this colorful hat, and check any mailbox around town to receive another special delivery: a Piece of Heart.
Romani’s Mask
Once you’re able to use Powder Kegs, buy one at the Bomb Shop in Clock Town, and then use it to blast the big boulder that’s blocking off Romani Ranch. Do this during the First Day, and you’ll be able to help Romani protect her ranch from “them.” Succeed in defeating “them,” and you’ll be able to escort Romani’s sister, Cremia, along her wagon ride to Clock Town during the Night of the Second Day. Help Cremia reach Clock Town safely, and she’ll reward your heroism with Romani’s Mask. This mask’s only purpose is to let you into the Latte Milk Bar in East Clock Town when the bar is open during the evenings.
Stone Mask
One of the more useful non-transformation masks, the Stone Mask makes Link appear to be as plain as a stone. Put on the Stone Mask, and most enemies won’t take any notice of you. In the original Majora’s Mask, the Stone Mask is obtained by giving an invisible soldier on Ikana Road some Red Potion (you use the Lens of Truth to see him). This is still how you get it in Majora’s Mask 3D, except that the soldier is no longer found along Ikana Road—he’s now holed up beneath the central guard tower in the Pirates’ Fortress. Use the Lens of Truth to spot the invisible soldier, and then give him some Red Potion to make him feel better and obtain the Stone Mask. (Stun the guards with arrows to reach the invisible soldier safely.)
Troupe Leader’s Mask
Once Link has obtained all three transformation masks (Deku, Goron, and Zora) and Romani’s Mask, he’s able to complete a special sound check in the Latte Milk Bar. Use Romani’s Mask to enter the Milk Bar after 10 p.m. during the Night of the First Day, then speak to the rotund Zora near the stage. He asks if you wouldn’t mind performing a sound check. Move onto the stage and pull out the Ocarina of Time, then play the notes that the Zora shows you. Repeat this with each of the transformation masks to make a total of four sound checks. You’ll move the nearby troupe leader to tears, and he’ll give you the Troupe Leader’s Mask.The Troupe Leader’s Mask didn’t have much purpose in the original Majora’s Mask, but you can get a whole new use out of it in Majora’s Mask 3D. Advance to the Dawn of the Second Day, and then go to the Stock Pot Inn. Put on the Troupe Leader’s Mask and speak with the troupe leader, who’s lying in bed upstairs. He isn’t feeling well and asks that you bring him his brothers’ special milk after 12 p.m. Go to the Gorman Track after 12 p.m., and talk to the Gorman Bros. while wearing the Troupe Leader’s Mask. They give you some Mystery Milk, but you must bring it to the troupe leader within just two minutes. You can’t use the Song of Soaring, either, so sprint back to Clock Town with the Bunny Hood. Give the troupe leader the Mystery Milk between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., and he’ll let you keep the Empty Bottle after guzzling the milk down.
Zora Mask
Link discovers this vital transformation mask while exploring the Great Bay Coast. When worn, the Zora Mask transforms Link into a water-dwelling Zora. This mask lets Link swim and explore underwater, and it must be used to help Link overcome a number of obstacles. You’ll get plenty of use out of this special mask.
