The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask 3D eGuide Walkthrough Chapter 3: Termina Field and the Southern Swamp

Woodfall

Bogged Down

Beware: this area is filled with even more poisoned water. You must be close to the source of the problem. Chop down the bushes on the entry ledge, then go west and hop across the poisoned bog as Deku Link, heading for the west ramp.

Watch out for a feisty Hiploop patrolling the ramp. Lock on and defeat it from afar with a few of Deku Link’s bubbles. If you accidentally fall off the ramp, quickly hop to the nearest lily pad before you sink into the bog.

Hiploop

Damage: 1/4 Heart

Hiploops are hot-headed insects that charge at Link once they catch sight of him. Block their charges by assuming a defensive position with , then counter. Alternately, simply lock on to the pests and pick them off with Deku Link’s bubbles from a safe range.

Continue up the ramp, slaying another Hiploop on your way to a Deku Flower. Look out—a Mad Scrub pops up from this flower and spits Deku Nuts at you. Block its Deku Nuts, and wait for your chance to defeat the Mad Scrub with a bubble or spin attack.

After you’ve defeated the Mad Scrub, you can use its flower. Dive into the flower and face west to spy a ledge with another Deku Flower. Glide over and land on the ledge, then enter the nearby cave.

Hey, it’s a Fairy’s Fountain! This one’s just like the one you’ve visited in Clock Town, and its Great Fairy has been broken and shattered just like the Great Fairy of Magic. Move to the center of the fountain, and the Great Fairy speaks to you, asking that you find the Stray Fairies that are trapped inside Woodfall Temple. You’ll then be healed, with your magic power also restored. There’s nothing you can do to help this Great Fairy at the moment, so head back outside.

Use the Deku Flower on the ledge outside the Fairy’s Fountain to glide over to another Mad Scrub that’s guarding a lower stump to the south. Defeat this Mad Scrub, as well, again dropping a Deku Nut on its head if you like.

Don’t bother using the Mad Scrub’s Deku Flower. Instead, cross the ramp and dispatch a third Mad Scrub on the next stump. Use this one’s flower to glide to the wooden platform to the east. (Ignore the chest on the south stump for now.)

Sacred Symbol

Always observant, Tatl notices a special mark that’s etched onto the wooden platform’s floor. It’s the Deku Scrub mark! The little Fairy wonders if the Dekus used to worship here before all the trouble began.

Woodfall Owl Statue

After Tatl finishes talking, take off the Deku Mask and inspect the platform’s owl statue. This activates the statue, creating a new warp point for the Song of Soaring. Now you can easily return to this remote area whenever you like. Use the statue to save your progress afterward.

Woodfall Chests

With the owl statue activated, use the wooden platforms Deku Flower to reach the tall stump to the south, which sports a treasure chest. Flip its lid to pocket a Blue Rupee. Every little bit helps!

After looting the chest, drop off the stump’s east side and hop east along the water as Deku Link. Cross a lily pad to reach another ramp to the east, which a Hiploop guards. Wipe out the Hiploop and the Mad Scrub that follows, then use the Mad Scrub’s Deku Flower to reach the next Mad Scrub to the north.

Defeat the Mad Scrub, along with the circling Dragonfly that buzzes about. Next, cross the nearby wooden bridge and defeat one last Mad Scrub that’s guarding a chest. Open the chest to obtain a precious Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #13

You got a Piece of Heart! Collect four Pieces of Heart to assemble a new Heart Container. Each new container you put together increases the amount of life energy you can have.

One Last Chest

A look at your mini-map shows there’s one more chest in Woodfall. It’s right nearby; use the Deku Flower near the Piece of Heart’s chest to reach it, then open the chest for a Red Rupee.

That’s all you’ll be doing around Woodfall for now. Whip out your ocarina (or Deku Pipes) and play the Song of Soaring. Select the Southern Swamp as your destination, and you’ll be whisked directly over to the Southern Swamp’s owl statue. Don’t worry: you can easily return to Woodfall any time now that you’ve activated its owl statue.
