A Day at the Races
Roll directly west through Romani Ranch, speeding toward the distant building that has a dog painted on the roof. Enter to visit the Doggy Racetrack.
Now that you have the Mask of Truth, you have a much better chance of winning this game. Speak to Mamamu, and agree to play.
After speaking with Mamamu, you get to pick the dog that you think can run the fastest and win the race. Put on the Mask of Truth, and pick up the dogs in the run to hear their innermost thoughts. Look for a dog that says something really confident or positive, such as:
“My four paws feel lighter than usual today!”
“Oh yeah! I feel unstoppable! I don’t think I’ll lose!”
“I’m here for my wife and child. There’s no way I’ll lose!”
Once you’ve decided on a dog, carry it over to Mamamu. She’ll inform you that you’ll get triple your money if your dog takes first place, and double if it finishes second. If it finishes third through fifth, you’ll get your money back so that you can try again. If it finishes sixth or lower, you’ll lose. Place a bet of 50 Rupees, then sit back and enjoy the race.
The most confident dogs commonly finish ahead of the pack, but there’s no guarantee that you’ll win. Still, you’re likely to at least break even just by picking confident dogs. Keep trying until your dog finishes in first place; you have plenty of time to play with. Win 150 Rupees from Mamamu’s dog race on a single bet, and you’ll earn a special bonus: a Piece of Heart.
