There’s an owl statue at the top of Stone Tower, but it’ll take some effort to reach it. You’ll be resetting time after you reach the owl statue, so don’t worry if the hour is late—it won’t take long for you to reach it and save.
Climbing the Tower
The Stone Tower sure is tall. It’s also a long way down, so be careful not to fall. Hop straight across the first stretch of floating platforms to reach a floor switch on a ledge.
Ignore the floor switch for now. Face west, and then Hookshot the top of the anchor stone on the ledge above you.
Beware: a statue-like Beamos watches over this ledge. You’re safe from its punishing gaze while standing atop the anchor stone, though. Pull out a bomb, and toss it near Beamos to defeat it.
Beamos
Damage: 1/2 Heart
These statue-like baddies sport a revolving eye that emits a powerful laser beam when Link moves into sight. Beamos can’t move, but they commonly stand watch over vital areas. Keep out of a Beamos’ sight, and use a bomb (or the Blast Mask) to blast a Beamos to bits. Beware, though: a Beamos’ eye also goes boom shortly after you blast its body.
After defeating Beamos, stand on the nearby floor switch, and one of the floating platforms that you recently crossed soon rises. The platform returns to its original position if you step off the switch, so play the Elegy of Emptiness while standing on the switch. This creates a clone of Link that keeps the switch depressed, letting you explore onward.
With Link’s double holding down the floor switch, Hookshot the next anchor stone on the ledge above you to reach higher ground.
Put on the Goron or Zora Mask, and step on the floor switch up here. Play the Elegy of Emptiness again to create a clone of Goron or Zora Link that keeps the switch held down. The Deku Mask won’t work because Deku Link is too light to activate floor switches.
Carefully drop back down to the first floor switch on the lowest ledge, which you ignored before. Put on the Zora or Goron Mask (whichever one you didn’t just use), and create another clone to hold down the floor switch for you.
With Link’s clones holding down all three switches, the three floating platforms have lined up above you. Hookshot back up the anchor stones to reach the highest ledge that you’ve visited, then hop across the platforms to reach the Stone Tower’s south ledge.
The south ledge features a Gossip Stone. Ignore it, and Hookshot up to the next ledge above, which features a floor switch. Avoid the floor switch, and Hookshot up to an even higher ledge, which features a Beamos. Blast that evil statue to bits with a bomb.
After defeating the Beamos, stand on the nearby floor switch, and create a clone of normal Link to hold it down. This shifts a different floating platform into a useful position.
Drop back down to the previous ledge, and create a clone of Goron or Zora Link to hold down its floor switch. Once this is done, Hookshot back up to the Beamos ledge, and then Hookshot up to an even higher ledge and create a clone of either Goron or Zora Link (whichever one you didn’t create before).
Stone Tower Owl Statue
With your clones holding down the three southern switches, the three higher platforms should now be lined up in a row. Jump across them to reach the Stone Tower’s high north ledge.
Good work: the Stone Tower’s owl statue is almost within your reach. Just Hookshot the northeast anchor stone to reach higher ground. Then, carefully move to the ledge’s south edge, and Hookshot over to the high distant anchor stone to the south. Hookshot up to one final anchor stone above you to the south to finally reach the owl statue’s lofty ledge.
Temple Time
Nice climbing! Activate the owl statue atop the Stone Tower to save your game and unlock the final Song of Soaring warp point. Now you can easily return here at any time—no climbing gear necessary. The Stone Tower temple beckons, but it’s wise to rewind time before delving into that temple’s tricky depths. Save your progress here at the Stone Tower owl statue, then play the Song of Time to return to the Dawn of the First Day.
