Exploration Preparation
Play the Song of Soaring and soar to the Southern Swamp. When you arrive, cut down the nearby tall grass for items. You’re primarily looking for a Deku Stick. There’s more tall grass to the east; if you like, cut it down also.
Swim east through the swamp next, heading for the Magic Hags’ Potion Shop. Along the way, cut down another Deku Baba and Mini Baba in search of a Deku Stick.
When you reach the Potion Shop, climb up the ladder and enter the shop. It’s the First Day, so Kotake hasn’t left the shop to search for her sister, Koume, yet. Purchase a Red Potion for 20 Rupees, then head back outside.
Save Koume… Again
Next, enter into the nearby Woods of Mystery, and use the Bunny Hood to easily follow the monkey to the wounded hag, Koume. Give her the Red Potion that you recently bought to revive her as you’ve done before. (Kotake doesn’t appear in the Woods of Mystery on the First Day, so you can’t ask her for a free Red Potion without returning to the Potion Shop to tell her of Koume’s plight. Spend the 20 Rupees and save yourself the trip.)
Buy Some Beans and Take a Tour
Leave the Woods of Mystery, and soar back to the Southern Swamp. Chop down the tall grass for another Deku Stick, then climb the ladder of the nearby Swamp Tourist Center. Put on the Deku Mask and, as Deku Link, speak to the Business Scrub in the Deku Flower on the porch. He offers to sell Deku Link some Magic Beans. Pay 10 Rupees, and buy one Magic Bean.
After buying your Magic Beans, take off the Deku Mask and enter the Swamp Tourist Center. Speak to Koume at the boat tour counter, and agree to take the free boat tour ride around the swamp.
When you reach the Deku Palace dock, get off the boat, but don’t enter the palace. Instead, put on the Deku Mask and hop across the poisoned water, heading across the nearby lily pads. Go north across the series of lily pads, making your way to a curious structure with a web-covered entrance.
The sign out front reads “Swamp Spider House.” Sounds scary. Whip out one of your Deku Sticks and use the nearby torch to light it, then burn away the webbing and head inside. (A Fire Arrow can also burn the webbing away.)
