Saving the Great Fairy
You find yourself back in Ikana Canyon, standing directly near the entrance to the Stone Tower. Drop from the ledge, and locate a hole in the wall below the tower’s entrance. Enter this hole to visit a Great Fairy’s Fountain.
You’ve found all 15 Stray Fairies in the Stone Tower Temple, so step to the center of the fountain to release them. The Great Fairy of Kindness is then restored.
Grateful for Link’s bravery and aid, the Great Fairy of Kindness grants him a special gift: the Great Fairy’s Sword. It’s a most powerful blade, but unlike Link’s other swords, this giant weapon must be equipped like the Hookshot or Hero’s Bow in order to be used.
Great Fairy’s Sword
You got the Great Fairy’s Sword! Equip it to use it. With black roses etched into it, the Great Fairy’s Sword is the most powerful of all blades.
Secret Shrine
There’s one more thing worth doing before you reset time. Leave the Great Fairy’s Fountain, and play the Song of Soaring. Soar to nearby Ikana Canyon and save at the owl statue, then travel south, heading for the canyon’s mighty river. Dive into the river as Zora Link and swim west, heading for a secret cave that lies behind the river’s west waterfall.
Enter the cave to visit a secret shrine. Shoot the sun emblem above the door with a Light Arrow to unseal it, then go through to speak with a spooky Garo.
The Garo cryptically says that some wandering spirits you’ve met before are eager to meet you once more. The Garo invites you to explore the shrine, and then promptly disappears.
The shrine features four passages, with each one leading to a different mini-boss encounter. You’ve battled each of these brutes before during your dungeon explorations, so there’s nothing new to fear. Here’s what you’ll find in each of the shrine’s four rooms:
West Room: Dinolfos. Three of them, to be exact. An easy fight. Interrupt their aggressive attacks with blows of your own. Afterward, open the chest that appears for a Silver Rupee.
Northwest Room: Wizzrobe. He’s back! Use Tatl to track his location, and shoot Light Arrows to slay him quickly. Open the chest he leaves behind for another Silver Rupee.
Northeast Room: Wart. Remember this eyesore? Hookshot all of his pink eyes away and slash them to bits, then attack Wart’s main eye with the Hookshot or Hero’s Bow. Roll to avoid his crazed charges, and open the chest he leaves you for another Silver Rupee.
East Room: Garo Master. You just fought this guy in the Stone Tower Temple, and he hasn’t changed a bit. Block his attacks, back him toward a wall, stun him with the Hookshot, and then slash him with your sword. Repeat until the master becomes the student, then claim your Silver Rupee reward.
After you’ve bested all four mini-bosses, return to the main chamber. The eerie Garo has returned, and he promptly rewards your valor with an even better prize than all of those Rupees—a Piece of Heart!.
Piece of Heart #45
You got a Piece of Heart! Collect four Pieces of Heart to assemble a new Heart Container. Each new container you put together increases the amount of life energy you can have.
That’s It for Ikana
You’ve done great things for the Kingdom of Ikana, hero, but the time has come to rewind. Soar somewhere and save your game, then play the Song of Time to return to the Dawn of the First Day. The ending is at hand!
