The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask 3D eGuide Walkthrough Chapter 2: Clock Town Tour

Clock Town

With the help of the mysterious mask salesman, Link has been released from the Skull Kid’s foul curse. Still, our hero is far from finished with the impetuous imp. The mask that the Skull Kid has stolen is known as Majora’s Mask, and its wicked power is beyond measure. Link must stop the Skull Kid and reclaim Majora’s Mask, but he can’t do it alone. Fortunately, his newfound fairy friend, Tatl, is there by his side.

The Great Fairy’s Mask

Through the Song of Time’s wondrous magic, Link has traveled back to the Dawn of the First Day. His curse has been broken, and in human form, he’s now able to explore the lands outside of Clock Town. You’ll explore those mysterious lands eventually, but there’s still plenty to do around Clock Town before you leave the safety of its walls.

Begin by heading to the Laundry Pool, which is located in Clock Town’s southwest corner. Inspect the Deku Flower along the way, and that pesky Business Scrub returns to shoo you away. That’s right: it’s the Dawn of the First Day again, and everything in town has been reset. You’ll need to obtain the Moon’s Tear from the Astral Observatory if you want to use the Business Scrub’s Deku Flower again.

At the Laundry Pool, leap into the water and collect the Stray Fairy. You can do this as either human Link or Deku Link. Return to South Clock Town afterward and sprint directly north, heading for North Clock Town.

When you arrive in North Clock Town, go west and enter the Fairy’s Fountain. Restore the Great Fairy of Magic by returning the Stray Fairy to her fountain, and she’ll heal your wounds and refill your magic power.

Additionally, the Great Fairy of Magic tells you of other Great Fairies that reside around the land. The Skull Kid’s evil magic has also broken these Great Fairies, but you can restore them by finding their Stray Fairies. Hoping that you’ll aid her fellow Great Fairies, the Great Fairy of Magic gives you a special mask that attracts Stray Fairies: the Great Fairy’s Mask.

Great Fairy’s Mask

You got the Great Fairy’s Mask! Stray Fairies fly to you when you wear it. You’ll know you’re close to a Stray Fairy lost in a temple if the mask’s hair begins to shimmer.

Playground Piece of Heart

Leave the Fairy’s Fountain, and run to the playground on North Clock Town’s east side. As human Link, you can climb the lowest block here. Do so, and then jump to the next block ahead. From there, leap on top of the slide.

From the top of the slide, carefully face west, and hop to the tall block near the tree. From there, jump again to land atop the tree and collect the Piece of Heart that hovers in its boughs. Find one more of these, and you’ll complete a new Heart Container.

Piece of Heart #3

You got a Piece of Heart! Collect four Pieces of Heart to assemble a new Heart Container. Each new container you put together increases the amount of life energy you can have.

The Scarecrow’s Songs

Drop from the tree, and go south into South Clock Town. Deduct 150 Rupees from your bank account, then head west into West Clock Town. Go down the street, and enter the middle of the three west doors to visit the Trading Post.

The Trading Post sells a selection of useful items at reasonable prices, but that’s not why you’re here. Speak to the nearby scarecrow instead, which can advance time with his magical dance just like the scarecrow that you met in the Astral Observatory. Don’t dance with the scarecrow, but listen carefully to what he says.

The scarecrow knows of a mysterious song that allows you to manipulate the flow of time. Tell him that “yes,” you want to hear about it, and he’ll hint that playing the Song of Time backward can slow the flow of time. The scarecrow also says that you can move forward through time by playing each note of the Song of Time twice in a row.

Time to see if the scarecrow is right. Whip out your ocarina and try playing the Song of Time backward to slow the flow of time. The notes to play are: , , , , , .

It worked; you can slow the flow of time! To return the flow of time to normal, simply play the Inverted Song of Time again—but don’t do so right now. Keep the flow of time slowed so that you can accomplish more around Clock Town before you’re forced to play the Song of Time and rewind time back to the Dawn of the First Day.

It’s the Bomb

Leave the Trading Post, and enter the nearby shop to the north. It’s the Bomb Shop!

Step up to the shop’s counter and slide your selection cursor over to the Bomb Bag, which costs 50 Rupees. Boy, that’s really expensive! But it’s worth it, so go ahead and spend the 50 Rupees that you withdrew from your bank account on the Bomb Bag, which comes loaded with 20 bombs.

Bomb Bag

You got a Bomb Bag! Now you can carry and use bombs. With this special offer, the Bomb Bag comes filled with 20 bombs. How lucky!

Lucky Lottery

Leave the Bomb Shop and go north. Proceed as if you were going to South Clock Town, but turn right and enter the door near the South Clock Town gate to visit the Lottery Shop instead.

The Lottery Shop sells lottery tickets from 6 a.m. to 5:59 p.m. every day. Spend 10 Rupees to purchase a lottery ticket, then pick any three numbers for your ticket. You must return between the hours of 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. to see if you’ve won. Don’t worry: this guide reminds you!

Post Office

Leave the Lottery Shop, and enter the building to the north to visit the Post Office. You can only enter this building after 3 p.m. on the First and Final Days. On the First Day, the postman is performing his rigorous training regimen in bed. You can attempt his training challenge if you like, but you’ll find it nearly impossible to win until you obtain a special mask. Save this little event for later; you’ll be informed when the time is right.

Swordsman’s School

Go west from the Post Office, and enter the adjoining building to visit the Swordsman’s School. This is a great place to hone your swordfighting skills.

Speak to the trainer who runs the Swordsman’s School, and he’ll offer you two training sessions. The Novice Training teaches you the basics of swordplay, and since it costs only one Rupee, it’s well worth trying. However, the real challenge lies in the Expert Training session.

Complete Novice Training, then pay 10 Rupees and try the Expert Training session. Logs soon pop up from the floor in pairs. Quickly draw Link’s sword without cutting any of the logs, then lock on to each log with -Targeting and press to perform jump attacks that split the logs down the middle.

Split all 10 logs with jump attacks to impress the trainer. He’ll reward your stunning swordplay with a Piece of Heart! If you beat this challenge again, you’ll receive a Fishing Hole Pass.

Piece of Heart #4

You got a Piece of Heart! Collect four Pieces of Heart to assemble a new Heart Container. Each new container you put together increases the amount of life energy you can have.

Deku Scrub Playground

Leave the Swordsman’s School, and save your game at the owl statue behind the Clock Tower. Afterward, make your way back up to North Clock Town and head toward the Fairy’s Fountain, but don’t go inside. Instead, locate a nearby Deku Flower. Slap on the Deku Mask, and dive into this Deku Flower as Deku Link.

Face the fence near the Fairy’s Fountain, and then pop out of the Deku Flower. Glide past the fence and land on the other side (you can just barely make it). Drop down the small hole you discover beyond the fence to land in an underground cavern.

The cavern is home to some friendly Deku Scrubs that run a fun mini-game. Pay either of the Scrubs 10 Rupees, and he’ll let you use his Deku Flower to play their game.

The cavern is filled with moving platforms. Launch from the Deku Flower and glide to the nearest platform, collecting the Rupee on top. Immediately dive into the platform’s Deku Flower and launch out, sailing to the next platform. Glide from platform to platform as you strive to collect all 6 of the Rupees in under 1 minute and 15 seconds. You’ll win a bonus prize at the game’s end if you beat the clock: a Fishing Hole Pass! You also get to keep every Rupee that you find during the game.

Fishing Hole Pass

You got a Fishing Hole Pass! Present one of these passes at a Fishing Hole in exchange for one free Fishing Rod rental.

Big Winner

By this point, it’s likely some time between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the First Day. Time to pop by the Lottery Shop and see if Lady Luck is on your side! Return to West Clock Town, and enter the Lottery Shop between the hours of 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. (play the Song of Double Time to advance to 6 p.m. if necessary). Step up to the counter and check your ticket to see if you’re a winner. If you get really lucky and your numbers match the winning numbers, you’ll win a Purple Rupee! Even if your numbers don’t match, you’ll record the First Day’s winning numbers in your Bombers’ Notebook for future (past?) reference.

Creepy Thief

A special event plays out in North Clock Town around midnight of the First Day. Go to North Clock Town and hang out there until midnight rolls around, playing the Song of Double Time to advance to midnight if necessary. Between the hours of midnight and 1 a.m. on the First Day, a despicable man robs a helpless little old lady. He’s a thief, and he’s stolen the poor woman’s Bomb Bag.

Deku Link’s spin attack won’t stop the thief, so you couldn’t have helped the old lady before. However, strike the thief with Link’s sword, and the thief drops his ill-gotten goods.

The thief flees the scene, but at least he hasn’t stolen anything. Grateful for Link’s help, the old woman hands the lad the Blast Mask. What a wonderful gift!

Blast Mask

You got the Blast Mask! Wear it and have a blast with , although you’ll lose life energy in the process.

The Music Man’s Mask

During the Night of the First and Second Days, a musician named Guru-Guru will be practicing his songs at the Laundry Pool. It’s still the wee hours of the First Day, so go to South Clock Town, and then take the southwest passage to visit the Laundry Pool. Speak to Guru-Guru as regular Link, and he’ll sing you a song about an animal troupe and a special mask. After concluding his tale, Guru-Guru gives you the Bremen Mask. You won’t get much use out of this unusual mask immediately, but it’ll come in handy before long.

Bremen Mask

You got the Bremen Mask! This mask belonged to the leader of the animal troupe. Try parading it around tiny, young animals.

Silver in the Sewers

Return to South Clock Town, and speak with the bank teller to deposit all of your Rupees. Afterward, go to the north end of East Clock Town, and speak with the kid who’s guarding the alley. Remember this little guy? He’s a member of the Bombers, and he won’t let you pass unless you know their club’s secret code. Don’t worry, there’s no need to play hide and seek with Jim again; the code hasn’t changed. Give the boy the same code that you learned before so that you may pass into the sewers. (If you’ve forgotten the code, press and check your Bombers’ Notebook for it.)

As human Link, you can swim through the sewers and explore the area more thoroughly. Swim to the left, keeping close to the wall to avoid the sneaky Skulltula that drops down in ambush.

Slip past the Skulltula, and climb out of the water to reach a small alcove with a torch. The nearby wall is cracked and seems vulnerable. Equip your bombs, pull one out, and then press to place it near the wall. Hold to raise Link’s shield afterward and block the imminent blast. (You can also use the Blast Mask instead of a bomb, if you like.)

Boom! The force of the blast blows apart the cracked wall, exposing a treasure chest. Open it to claim a Silver Rupee. Carefully make your way back out of the sewers afterward, returning to East Clock Town.

Second Day Activities

You’ve accomplished quite a lot around Clock Town, and all in one day! Spend the Second Day by visiting the following shops and attractions, which offer you more games to play for fun and profit. If you don’t feel like playing, or if you need to advance time to a certain point on a certain day, remember that you can use the Song of Double Time (, , , , , ) to quickly cycle through the days. Withdraw Rupees from your bank account so that you can play each game, and beat the games to win even more Rupees.

Deku Scrub Playground — Second Day Prizes

Return to the Deku Scrub Playground in North Clock Town after the Dawn of the Second Day, and you’ll find that the game has become more challenging. The platforms now move side to side instead of up and down. It still costs just 10 Rupees to play, but you’ll have a tougher time collecting all of those Rupees. Beat the high score of 1 minute and 15 seconds again to receive another Fishing Hole Pass. To reiterate, it’s important that you beat this game each day without resetting time, as you can win an even better prize on the Final Day by doing so. (You’ll be reminded about this when the time is right.)

The Mayor’s Official Residence

After beating the Dekus’ game on the Second Day, go east from North Clock Town, and enter East Clock Town. Go inside the building that’s located at East Clock Town’s north end to visit the Mayor’s Official Residence, home of Clock Town’s first citizen, Mayor Dotour. There’s little to accomplish here currently besides meeting Mayor Dotour and Madame Aroma, but it’s worth a look.

Latte Milk Bar

Located near the east gate in East Clock Town, the Latte Milk Bar is a gathering place for Clock Town’s hardworking citizens. It’s an elite establishment, and during the evenings when the bar is open, you can’t enter without proof of membership. You can check out the bar during the daytime, but there’s nothing much to do here until you can enter the bar when it’s open.

Stock Pot Inn

You’ve already visited the Stock Pot Inn, which stands across from the Latte Milk Bar in East Clock Town. This humble inn holds several more secrets, but they’re currently out of your grasp.

Treasure Chest Shop

Located to the south of the Stock Pot Inn in East Clock Town, the Treasure Chest Shop is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. Head inside and pay the friendly proprietor 20 Rupees to play a fun mini-game.

A treasure chest appears at the far end of the room, and you must race to open it. As you go, big blocks rise from the checkered floor, creating a maze that slows you down. Find your way through the maze, and reach the chest before time runs out.

The chest always contains a Purple Rupee, and you always have 45 seconds to reach it. However, the location of the chest and the maze that’s created by the rising blocks vary with each game. Some games are more challenging than others, but each one has a solution. You can afford to lose twice in a row and still come out on top, so the Treasure Chest Shop is one of the easiest and most entertaining ways to win Rupees in Clock Town.

Town Shooting Gallery

Found at the south end of East Clock Town, the Town Shooting Gallery is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. It costs 20 Rupees to play, but you can’t participate without a bow. You can win several worthy prizes from this game, so you’ll have to come back later.

Honey & Darling’s Shop

This little shop, located at the south end of East Clock Town, is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. Proprietors Honey & Darling offer a different game each day, and each game costs just 10 Rupees to play. Beating the day’s game earns you a Fishing Hole Pass, and like the Deku Scrub Playground, you’ll win something really good if you beat all three games without resetting time. The final game is tough to win without a bow, though, so don’t bother going after it just yet.

Clock Town Lotto — Second Day Drawing

Don’t forget to visit the Lottery Shop in West Clock Town on the Second Day. There’s a new drawing each day, so visit the Lottery Shop between the hours of 6 a.m. and 5:59 p.m. on the Second Day to buy your ticket for 10 Rupees. Exit the shop afterward, and play the Song of Double Time to advance to the Night of the Second Day (any time between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.). Then, go back to the Lottery Shop and see if you’ve won. Again, it’s OK if you lose. The day’s winning numbers get recorded in your Bombers’ Notebook, helping you win big after you reset time.

Bigger is Better

If you saved the old lady from the thief in North Clock Town (skip back a few sections for details), you can purchase the Big Bomb Bag at the Bomb Shop at your leisure during the Second and Third Days. Bombs come in handy, so visit the Bomb Shop in West Clock Town and purchase the Big Bomb Bag for 90 Rupees.

Big Bomb Bag

You got a Big Bomb Bag! Now you can hold up to 30 bombs.

Curiosity Shop

Located at the south end of West Clock Town, the Curiosity Shop opens at 10 p.m. every night. This shop has nothing to sell you, but it seems like the ideal place to fence any unwanted goods that you might acquire during Link’s travels.

Final Day Deeds

The time has come to wrap up your little tour of Clock Town. Depending on the time and day, you may need to advance time at this point. Use the Song of Double Time (, , , , , ) to skip ahead to the Dawn of the Final Day.

Deku Scrub Playground — Final Day Prizes

Make your way back to North Clock Town, and return to the Deku Scrub Playground. The Dekus’ game is most challenging during the Final Day, as the platforms move up, down, and all around. Collecting all of those Rupees is no easy feat, but the rewards are great. Grab them all in under 1 minute and 16 seconds to win another Fishing Hole Pass.

But wait! If you’ve beaten the Dekus’ game on all three days without resetting time, then you’ll also receive a very special prize: a Piece of Heart. The Deku Scrubs hope that this precious prize will convince Link to lay off their game.

Piece of Heart #5

You got a Piece of Heart! Collect four Pieces of Heart to assemble a new Heart Container. Each new container you put together increases the amount of life energy you can have.

Clock Town Lotto — Final Day Drawing

Pop by the Lottery Shop in West Clock Town one last time during the hours of 6 a.m. to 5:59 p.m. on the Final Day. Plop down 10 Rupees and buy your ticket, then exit the shop and play the Song of Double Time to advance to 6 p.m. Enter the shop again, and see if you’ve won. Whether or not you win, you’ll record the winning digits in your Bombers’ Notebook for future reference.

That’s a Wrap!

This concludes your grand tour of Clock Town… for the time being, at least. Deposit all of your Rupees into your bank account, then save your game at the owl statue and play the Song of Time to rewind time back to the Dawn of the First Day. The wilds of Termina Field await!
