Children of the Night
A host of walking skeletons known as Stalchildren roams Ikana Graveyard at night. They won’t bother you much, especially if you wear the Stone Mask. Ignore or cut down the Stalchildren as you continue moving north.
Stalchild
Damage: 1/4 Heart
The Kingdom of Ikana’s fallen soldiers have been cursed to roam their homeland for all time. They shuffle around the landscape and take out their rage on anyone foolish enough to approach. Like their claw swipe attacks, the bones of Stalchildren are weak, and Link’s blade easily shatters them.
Waking the Dead
You can’t enter the graveyard’s north building at night, but you can awaken the giant sleeping skeleton that slumbers nearby. Before doing so, cut down the nearby bushes in search of arrows. After you’ve found some arrows, stand before the giant skeleton, put on the Bunny Hood, and play the Sonata of Awakening.
The Sonata of Awakening rouses the giant skeleton, who quickly stomps off, running away from you. You’ll fail this event if the giant skeleton manages to escape, so hurry after it with the Bunny Hood.
-Target the skeleton and stun it with an arrow, then slay the first two Stalchildren that get in your way.
Once you’re past the Stalchildren,
-Target the skeleton once more, and then quickly stun it again with the Hero’s Bow. Stunning the giant skeleton with your Hero’s Bow isn’t necessary, but it helps you catch up. Race forward, and slash the giant skeleton with Link’s sword to end the chase and begin a battle.
The Bigger They Are…
Once you slash the giant skeleton with Link’s sword, the pursuit ends. The monster rounds on you in a rage, and the real battle begins!
The giant skeleton sure looks scary, but defeating it isn’t all that difficult. It mostly swipes at you with its huge claws, dealing 1/2 Heart of damage if you’re hit. Simply raise Link’s shield to block these heavy blows, then counter with the sword while the skeleton is off balance.
After suffering significant damage, the giant skeleton begins to leap into the air, aiming to crush you when it lands. Run or roll away from its shadow to dodge the impact, then counter with Link’s blade. Keep it up until the monster finally yields.
Skull Keeta’s Plea
Having suffered enough, the giant skeleton begs Link to halt his attack. The monster then informs Link that it once commanded the Ikana Army and introduces itself as Skull Keeta.
Long has Skull Keeta waited for a worthy hero to awaken and challenge it. Link has done just that, so Skull Keeta wants to reward him. The fallen commander asks Link to take its soul, which rests in a nearby chest, and use it to help the Stalchildren in the Graveyard find peace.
After Skull Keeta departs, use the Hookshot to zip over to the ornate chest that was surrounded by flames. Inside, you discover the item that contains Skull Keeta’s soul: the Captain’s Hat.
Captain’s Hat
You got the Captain’s Hat! The ghosts of a hundred soldiers swear allegiance to this symbol of authority.
Guarded Gravestone
Now that you’ve found the Captain’s Hat, quickly check the time. If it’s not yet the Dawn of the Second Day, backtrack a bit through the graveyard, and locate a gravestone with three Stalchildren circling it. Put on the Captain’s Hat, and speak to any of the three circling Stalchildren by
-Targeting it.
The Stalchildren believe you to be their captain, Skull Keeta, and will follow your orders. Tell them to open the grave, and they’ll quickly smash the gravestone apart, revealing a hole in the ground. What in Termina could be down there? Well, there’s only one way to find out.
