Goron Shrine
As you enter Goron Village, a distant, shivering Goron catches your eye. Approach and speak to the Goron to learn that his tribe has all taken shelter within the Goron Shrine. Tell the Goron that you’d like to enter the shrine, and he’ll perform a patented Goron Pound that opens the door below you.
The door won’t stay open for long, so quickly drop from the ledge and enter the Goron Shrine. Use the nearby save statue to mark your progress, if you like.
Crybaby
With the brutal blizzard blowing in from Snowhead, many Gorons have sought shelter within their sacred shrine. It’s not a peaceful as it could be, though, for the earsplitting cries of a very unhappy Goron child echo through the hall. What a racket!
Head up to the throne room to find the source of the noise: the Goron Elder’s son is crying his eyes out. Speak with the nearby Goron to discover the source of the child’s dismay. You learn that the child’s father, the Goron Elder, has gone missing. Could that old, frozen Goron that you saw on your way to the village have been him?
Deku Dealin’
The Goron Shrine features a shop, but save your Rupees and head outside to escape from that awful sobbing. Once you’re outside, proceed south, and search around for a Deku Flower. A Business Scrub pops out, but he’ll only deal with Gorons. Or will he?
Slap on the Deku Mask, and talk to the Business Scrub again. He’ll hint that he’d like to set up shop elsewhere, giving you a golden opening. Hand the Business Scrub the Swamp Title Deed, and he’ll give you the Mountain Title Deed in trade.
Mountain Title Deed
You traded your Swamp Title Deed for a Mountain Title Deed!
Now that you’re the proud owner of the mountain Deku Flower, put it to good use. Dive into the Deku Flower and then launch up to the nearby south ledge. Hey, there’s a Piece of Heart up there! It’s been a while since you’ve found one of these lovely prizes, and this one fills a new Heart Container.
Piece of Heart #20
You got a Piece of Heart! Collect four Pieces of Heart to assemble a new Heart Container. Each new container you put together increases the amount of life energy you can have.
Friendly Face
After pocketing your Piece of Heart, drop from the ledge, and then scale the nearby winding ramp to the north. As you ascend the ramp, you’ll catch sight of an old friend: the great owl that you met in the Southern Swamp.
Approach the owl and speak with him to learn that the Gorons’ land is doomed to be smothered in snow and ice. It will soon become a land where no living thing can survive. How dreadful!
Tell the owl that “yes,” you will proceed, and he’ll become encouraged. He cryptically tells Link not to be daunted by appearances before taking flight and heading for a distant shrine.
The owl wants you to follow him, but the shrine seems too far to reach. Appearances can be deceiving, however. Watch the owl’s flight path, and notice that the feathers he sheds seem to land on solid surfaces that can’t be seen. Follow the owl’s trail of feathers, and you’ll hop across several invisible platforms that lead to the shrine.
Lone Peak Shrine
The owl is pleased with your courage and hints that something useful can be found inside the nearby shrine. As usual, he’s not wrong. Head inside the shrine to discover a gilded chest, and open it to obtain the magical Lens of Truth.
Lens of Truth
You got the Lens of Truth! Gaze through it to see mysteries that are invisible to the naked eye. Seeing the truth drains magic power, so stop looking to conserve your magic.
True Sight
Time to give your new item a try. Equip the Lens of Truth, and use it to spy an invisible chest behind the gilded chest. How about that! Be careful, though: an invisible Skulltula just happens to be guarding the invisible chest. Keep using the Lens of Truth to see the Skulltula, and slay it with an arrow after it drops and spins around. Open the chest afterward to claim a Red Rupee.
But wait, there’s more! Cut the shrine’s tall grass to find lots of bombs, then use a few to blast the shrine’s boulders. You’ll uncover a third chest that contains a Purple Rupee.
Exit the shrine, and gaze through the Lens of Truth again. Through the lens’ magic, you can see the invisible platforms that you crossed to reach the shrine. Neat! Hop across the platforms to return to the mainland.
Goron Ghost
Whoa! The gray ghost of a Goron hovers just beyond the invisible platforms. You couldn’t see the ghost before, for it can only be seen with the Lens of Truth. Speak to the ghost while gazing through the Lens of Truth, and he soon asks you to follow him.
Follow the Goron ghost through the village, working your way westward. Beware of Blue Tektites that spring up as you go. Keep following the Goron ghost, and he’ll eventually lead you through the southwest tunnel, guiding you back toward Mountain Village.
