The biggest and baddest baddies that Link faces await him at the end of each temple. Dungeon bosses draw Link into epic battles that put the young hero’s skills and reflexes to the ultimate test. Defeating each one earns Link a Heart Container and helps to purify the land of evil.
Odolwa, Masked Jungle Warrior
Woodfall Temple’s final foe is a towering tribal warrior named Odolwa. Keep your distance from this skilled swordsman until the time is right to strike.
Odolwa performs a ritual dance before leaping and striking. Lock on to, the boss and be prepared to leap away from his attacks.
Try as you might, there seems to be no way of harming Odolwa. But of course, there’s always a way. Put on the Deku Mask, and then dive into one of the room’s Deku Flowers. Odolwa loses sight of Link while he’s burrowed underground. Still, don’t stay there for too long, or Odolwa performs a special dance that causes big rocks to fall on Link.
Pop up from the Deku Flower and glide toward Odolwa. Press
to drop a Deku Nut on the boss just as you pass by overhead. (Smash the surrounding jars to find Deku Nuts if you need some.)
Zap! Stunning Odolwa with a Deku Nut causes him to topple over. Now’s your chance! Take off the Deku Mask, target the big eye on Odolwa’s head, and unleash a flurry of sword strikes to inflict maximum damage.
After taking a few hits, Odolwa calls down a rain of bugs that pursue Link around the arena. It pays to slay these little pests, for they often drop useful items, including Deku Nuts and Recovery Hearts.
Keep stunning Odolwa with Deku Nuts and slashing him with Link’s sword each time he collapses. It won’t be long before this big, bad boss finally falls.
Goht, Masked Mechanical Monster
A monstrous mechanical beast awaits Link at the top of Snowhead Temple. It must be the great demon that Darmani mentioned!
Goht is frozen solid—use a Fire Arrow to free the beast. Once you’ve melted the ice, Goht roars to life and begins to charge, smashing right through a wall.
You’ve got to catch that monster! Don the Goron Mask, press
to curl up into a ball, and then start rolling after Goht. But beware: this bad boss tries to zap you with powerful orbs of crackling energy as you give chase. Goht also kicks up large rocks that can stop you in
your tracks if they hit you. Do your best to avoid Goht’s attacks as you chase the monster around the circular track.
Once you’re rolling at top speed, aim to ram Goht with Goron Link’s spikes. Ram Goht several times to flip the monster over. Rolling at top speed consumes magic power, however, so be sure to smash the big green jars that appear around the track as you pursue Goht. Keep restoring your magic power so that you can continue chasing after and ramming into the boss.
Flip Goht over to expose a giant eyeball, which is his weak spot. Take off the Goron Mask,
-Target the eyeball, and then shoot it with Fire Arrows. Goht recovers after a short time, but you can snap off three Fire Arrows if you’re quick on the draw.
The chase becomes more and more challenging as Goht nears defeat, for the monster gains speed and starts to drop bombs at you. Big stalactites also fall from the ceiling, creating obstacles that can bring your roll to a sudden halt. Avoid all of Goht’s attacks, and keep rolling into the monster to stun it so you may shoot its vulnerable eye. Don’t give up the chase until you finally get the better of Goht.
