The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask 3D eGuide Introduction

Cast of Characters

Termina is home to some of the most unique characters you’ll ever meet. Let’s learn all about them!

Main Characters

The following characters are central to the story, and most of them play an important role in helping Link complete his quest.

Link

The Hero of Time himself, Link is a young, heroic swordsman who quickly finds himself drawn into Termina’s troubles. The mischievous Skull Kid steals Link’s horse and ocarina, and he also places the lad under a terrible curse. Worse, the moon seems to be plummeting toward Termina at an alarming rate. Can Link manage to break his curse and save the land from destruction? Not without your help!

Tatl

A somewhat sassy Fairy, Tatl begins the adventure at the Skull Kid’s side but soon finds herself helping Link. Tatl travels everywhere with Link and is always quick to point out interesting things in his surroundings. The lad would be lost without Tatl’s insights, and the bond between the two steadily grows over the course of their journey.

Epona

Link’s faithful steed, Epona, is stolen from him by the troublesome Skull Kid at the onset of the adventure. It’s quite some time before Link finds Epona, but once the two are reunited, the lad can explore the land faster and more thoroughly.

Skull Kid

The apparent cause of Termina’s troubles, the Skull Kid is a mischievous character who delights in pranks and larks. He ambushes Link at the start of the story, stealing Epona and the Ocarina of Time. The Skull Kid then goes on to torment Termina’s humble inhabitants in myriad ways, but is he acting alone, or is some evil force guiding him?

Majora’s Mask

Speaking of evil forces, the mask that the Skull Kid wears is known as Majora’s Mask. It was once used by an ancient tribe in their hexing rituals, and its cruel power is beyond measure. Could this sinister guise somehow be responsible for the Skull Kid’s wicked antics?

Great Owl

This aged owl watches over all and uses its vast wisdom to aid Link at key moments in his quest. It’s the great owl that teaches Link the Song of Soaring: a magical tune that lets the lad soar around Termina, greatly hastening his travels.

Mask Salesman

Owner of the Happy Mask Shop, the unnamed mask salesman seems to know a lot about Termina’s troubles. That’s because he was also attacked by the Skull Kid, who managed to steal Majora’s Mask in the process. No one knows the true danger of Majora’s Mask better than the mask salesman. After helping to break Link’s curse, the mask salesman begs the lad to reclaim Majora’s Mask before it’s too late.

Great Fairies

Five Great Fairies reside in Termina. One lives in Clock Town, and the others live to the north, south, east, and west. Sadly, the Skull Kid has broken every Great Fairy and shattered them into a number of little Stray Fairies. By rescuing all of the Stray Fairies, Link can restore the Great Fairies to their proper form—and receive some excellent rewards in the process.

Tingle

While perhaps not a main character, Tingle nevertheless plays an important role in Link’s adventure. Though he’s getting up there in years, this 35-year-old artist still dreams of the day when a Fairy companion will find him. Tingle is a bit weird, but the maps that he draws and sells to Link are incredibly useful. Be sure to buy all of Tingle’s maps, as they’re a big help in exploring Link’s world.

Clock Town Characters

The following characters are prominent figures around Clock Town, so it’s important to know all about them.

The Bombers

As Clock Town’s club of do-gooder kids, the Bombers just want to help folks out. They look out for people in need, and they record all of their good deeds in a special notebook that every Bomber carries. Once Link obtains the Bombers’ Notebook, he can learn interesting rumors by speaking with the Bombers around town.

Mayor Dotour

Clock Town’s First Citizen, Mayor Dotour, finds himself caught up in a never-ending meeting in his Official Residence in East Clock Town. The Carnival of Time is on the horizon, but no one can agree on what to do about the looming moon. If Link can somehow help Mayor Dotour out of this jam, he might just be richly rewarded.

Sakon

Though he actually lives in fortified hideout in Ikana Canyon, Sakon makes a key appearance in Clock Town. Around midnight on the First Day, this shady character tries to rob the old lady from the Bomb Shop in North Clock Town. Link can receive a valuable gift if he manages to stop this thief from making off with the goods.

The Postman

Be it rain or shine (or imminent doom), nothing stops the postman from making his daily deliveries. Depending on the time of day, Link can find the postman either out delivering mail or locked in vigorous training at the Post Office in West Clock Town. If Link impresses the postman with his keen sense of timing, he’ll instantly receive a very special delivery.

Anju

This attractive young woman runs the Stock Pot Inn in East Clock Town. Although it isn’t obvious at first, Anju is actually suffering from a broken heart. The love of her life, Kafei, has gone missing, and the two were just set to be married on the eve of the Carnival of Time. Only Link can help reunite the two lovebirds before it’s too late.

Kafei

Anju’s soul mate, Kafei, has been cursed by the Skull Kid and made to look like a child. This and other events have forced Kafei into hiding, much to Anju’s dismay. Perhaps Link can help set things right and bring Kafei and Anju back together.

The Rosa Sisters

As the Carnival of Time’s alluring dancers, the Rosa Sisters constantly strive to come up with the perfect dance routine. You can see them pondering their dilemma in the Stock Pot Inn during the day and practicing their craft in West Clock Town at night. Try as they might, they can’t seem to plan a dance for the upcoming carnival, but Link might be able to teach them a few steps.

Madame Aroma

This large lady lives in the Mayor’s Official Residence in East Clock Town. She can be found in the sitting room, fretting over her missing son, Kafei. If Link manages to bring Madame Aroma some news of her missing son, she’ll be forever grateful to him.

Guru-Guru

The carnival performers’ master musician, Guru-Guru practices his songs in the Stock Pot Inn by day and down at the Laundry Pool at night. If Link talks to him down by the Laundry Pool, Guru-Guru spins the lad a story that ends in a special reward.

Gorman the Troupe Leader

Gorman the Troupe Leader runs a traveling band of carnival performers, but with the world’s destruction seemingly at hand, he doesn’t see much point in celebrating. Instead, Gorman merely drowns his sorrows each night at the Latte Milk Bar. Perhaps cheering up this troubled fellow could lead to good things for Link.

Out of Towners

The following characters don’t live in Clock Town. They prefer a more peaceful and solitary life out in the wild.

Cremia and Romani

The owners and operators of Romani Ranch, Cremia and Romani are hardworking sisters who can’t seem to catch a break. For starters, a giant boulder has recently sealed off the road to their ranch. Until Link is able to remove the boulder, he won’t be able to help the sisters with their other problems. Once Link removes the boulder, he can help Romani defend her ranch from spooky intruders, and also assist Cremia in bringing a wagon full of premium milk to Clock Town. Naturally, these good deeds are justly rewarded.

Mountain Smithy

High up in Termina’s northern mountains lies a quaint little village, and it is here that the Mountain Smithy has set up shop. For just 100 Rupees, Link can have the Mountain Smithy reforge his blade into a sharper, more powerful weapon. That weapon can then be further enhanced by the Mountain Smithy, provided that Link can get his hands on some Gold Dust.

Termina’s Tribes

In addition to all of the aforementioned characters, several distinct peoples also populate Termina.

The Dekus

A tribe of shrewd woodland creatures, the Dekus make their home deep within Termina’s Southern Swamp. Trouble has befallen their land, however: the Deku Princess has gone missing, and the swamp water has become badly poisoned. Only by cleansing the evil within Woodfall Temple can Link hope to make things right for the Dekus.

The Gorons

The hearty inhabitants of Termina’s northern mountains, the Gorons have also fallen on tough times. A monstrous blizzard has blown in from the summit, one so powerful that it threatens to wipe out the entire Goron tribe. The Goron’s greatest hero has fallen in battle, and the Goron Elder has gone missing. Only Link’s timely and heroic actions can save the poor Gorons from their chilling fate.

The Zoras

Residing deep within Termina’s western ocean, the Zoras are an aquatic race that just love a good rock show. Their hallowed hall is a favorite venue for the popular Zora band The Indigo-Go’s, but with all of the recent trouble in the Great Bay, no music fills Zora Hall. Link must plan several daring raids around the coast in order to help the Zoras regain their lost eggs and save the Great Bay from darkness.

The Garos

An ancient race of warriors and assassins, the Garos continue to watch over their long-lost Kingdom of Ikana. These spooky spirits appear and vanish seemingly at will, and only Link’s prowess with the blade impresses them. Some Garos prefer to challenge Link, while others seek to provide guidance as he ventures deeper and deeper into Ikana.

The King of Ikana

A fallen land that lies in Termina’s eastern reaches, the Kingdom of Ikana was once a mighty realm that is now cloaked in darkness. Curse upon curse has crippled the kingdom, and the Ikana Army’s long-dead soldiers are forced to roam their homeland as skeletons and specters. The King of Ikana himself has also met with a terrible fate, and only the light of truth can aid Link in banishing the King’s dark demeanor.
