Just Roll with It
This challenging segment demands mastery over Goron Link’s roll. Take time to line up with the first straight area perfectly so that you can roll forward in a straight line, hit top speed, and zip over the first gap.
The moment that your spikes pop out, stop pressing forward and release all the buttons. If you lined up your first roll perfectly, you’ll bounce off a pair of open chests after you land and get redirected to the left. You’ll then automatically hop another gap. Let this happen without pressing any buttons or directions.
Again, if you lined up your initial roll perfectly, you’ll jump the left gap, bounce off of two more chests, and be redirected to the right. Keep letting Goron Link roll without pressing anything.
You next hit a long straight pass with several jumps. Again, assuming you made a perfect start, you’ll automatically leap each gap on your way to a third pair of chests.
If you’ve made it all the way to the third pair of chests, then you’re in good shape. You’ll bounce off of them, and then leap one more gap on your way to two green jars.
After you smash through these two green jars, turn right sharply, and you’ll round a tight corner and make another jump. This is a difficult turn, so don’t worry if it takes a few tries to nail it.
After turning right and jumping, countersteer sharply to the left, and round the next tight turn that follows. You’ll leap another gap and land near three green jars.
Once you reach these three green jars, tap
to stop rolling. Take a moment to catch your breath—the worst part is over.
Walk past the three green jars (smash them for Magic Jars, if you like), and line up with the next long straight segment. Tap
to start rolling again, and hit top speed to clear the next jump.
Hit the jump precisely, and you’ll hop a few gaps and bounce off another pair of chests, getting redirected to the left.
Let yourself bounce off the chests without pressing any buttons, and you’ll roll straight over to a Piece of Heart.
Piece of Heart #50
You got a Piece of Heart! Collect four Pieces of Heart to assemble a new Heart Container. Each new container you put together increases the amount of life energy you can have.
Finding the Child
You’ve claimed this playground’s prize; now you just need to find the masked child. Fortunately, this isn’t so tough. Just roll through the course again until you reach the first pair of green jars. Tap
to stop rolling when you reach these two jars, and then carefully walk across the narrow footbridge to the right to reach a gazebo.
Don’t step on the colorful floor panel in the gazebo’s center—it’s a portal back to the start. Avoid it, and turn left to spy an icy ledge in the distance. Carefully line up your trajectory and roll across the narrow footbridge, building up to top speed and leaping the far gap to reach the icy ledge.
The icy ledge features a door; go through it to find the masked child. Nice work! Take off the Goron Mask, and talk to the child. Give the child two more masks to return to the grassy field.
Another Game
Sprint back to the big tree, and save your game. This time, speak with the child who wears Gyorg’s Mask. It’s the mask that Gyorg, the boss of Great Bay Temple, wore. Give this child three masks to play another challenging game of hide-and-seek.
