The first, and comically weakest, opponent in the game, Gabby Jay, has lost a staggering 99 of his 100 fights. His single victory was against Glass Joe, the weakest opponent in the original Punch-Out!!, which earned him a diploma from the Glass Joe School of Boxing.
At 56 years young, Gabby Jay is the second most elderly boxer in the game, but has no intention of retiring until he’s tasted victory one more time…
The Canadian Bear Hugger is a whole lotta boxer, but this just makes him an easier target. A punch to the stomach makes the squirrel-loving lumberjack stick his tongue out mockingly, while a blocked punch causes him to do a powerful double-fisted smash. Luckily, unlike the arcade version of Super Punch-Out!!, his signature Bear Hug move isn’t an instant KO.
Piston Hurricane’s signature move, Hurricane Rush, was named after the storm that destroyed his home and forced him to live on the streets. Should he be allowed to execute Hurricane Rush, he’ll unleash a barrage of alternating punches, topping it off with a beastly uppercut.
Forgoing his original afro and stylin’ ‘stache for a military-style mohawk, Piston Hurricane is the first real challenge of the game.
Bald Bull has become a staple of the Punch-Out!! franchise, with more appearances than any other boxer. Downgraded to the Minor Circuit in Super Punch-Out!!, Bald Bull doesn’t pose as much of a threat as he does in previous titles, but he retains his patented Bull Charge move where he hops forward and then throws a single punch that flattens the player. Unlike his previous incarnation, however, he no longer spams this attack until it connects.
