Playing With Super Power: Nintendo Super NES Classics Guide › Super Mario World

World 9: Special World

Featured Level:

Funky

Intended as the final stage of the entire game, completing Funky changes the overworld’s season from Spring to Fall. The level consists largely of various Chucks and Sumo Brothers, with a message written in Coins that spells out “You are a super player!!” as Mario heads down the final stretch.

Funky features nine ultra-rare Green Berries, each of which extends the timer by 20 seconds. If the player waits until the timer reaches 100 and the sped-up music is triggered, then eats a Green Berry, the timer is pushed back over 100 but the music’s speed remains. This can be done with each of the Green Berries, making the music hilariously fast.
