Launch Titles

The Super Famicom launched in November of 1990 with Super Mario World and F-Zero. In the United States, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came bundled with Super Mario World, easily making it the console’s best-selling game of all time with over 20M copies sold. F-Zero, Pilotwings, SimCity, and Gradius III were also available during the console’s launch window, which was rolled out over several weeks ahead of its official, nationwide street date of September 9, 1991.

A dozen more titles were released by the end of the year, including notable sequels such as Super Castlevania IV, Final Fantasy II, and Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, as well as a port of Capcom’s 1989 arcade hit, Final Fight.
