Playing With Super Power: Nintendo Super NES Classics eGuide Super Punch-Out

Major Circuit

The Jive King of Kingston can be a particularly irritating opponent as his ability to boogie makes him a slippery target. When Bob Charlie wins by TKO, he’ll use Gabby Jay’s “Yay!” audio line.

Taking inspiration from both Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan, Dragon Chan is the only boxer who also uses kicks. Isn’t that cheating?! Nope! Not in the W.V.B.A.! Chan’s signature high-flying jumpkick can KO the player if it’s not ducked.

If you thought kicking was bad, former wrestler Masked Muscle not only spits in his opponents’ eyes but also uses headbutts. The latter move can be countered for an instant knockdown. His treacherous antics have earned him nicknames such as “Amigo to None” and “Crown Prince of the Cheap Shot.” But really…spitting? Gross, man.

One of the most formidable combatants in the original Punch-Out!!, Mr. Sandman has been toned down slightly from his 8-bit days, but not much. He can still block while stunned and, after being knocked down twice, gains a rapid-fire triple uppercut move that’s sure to turn his opponents’ dreams… *puts on sunglasses* …to nightmares.
