“All sources of video games inspire us.”

Studio Tamago consists of two team members, Yann Silba-Loebnitz and Zoé Jouaville, whose work stands out for its fanciful manifestation of fandom into our world through photography.

The team’s artistic endeavors began six years back, starting with cosplay photography at conventions. Eventually their work evolved in a new direction, when they began bringing games to life through digital composites and photo manipulations. Each piece begins by asking a question: What if our favorite game characters became real?

“All sources of video games inspire us,” said Studio Tamago, “Retro or current.” Additional inspiration for their art comes from modern Japanese culture, with regular visits fueling future work.

The goal of each piece is to “Transcribe the imagination that we had as children in images,” said Studio Tamago, arguing that imagination never really leaves us as adults; we just need to rediscover it.
