A notable aspect of the original F-Zero that sometimes gets lost in the shuffle when discussing its audio/visual achievements is its world-building. Like with the racers and machines, each city and planet hosting an F-Zero track is given its own backstory. This dedication to in-depth layering beyond the magnetic raceways of the game is further embellished in its sequels as well as a 51-episode anime that debuted in 2003.
