Reach Observation Point

Now that the Russian resistance has access to fuel, they need a leader to rally around. Without a strong leader, Raven’s Rock will continue making gains in their attempt to establish total control, both politically and militarily. Communication lines with the Loyalists do not extend to General Douka. But it looks like Douka is the best chance the resistance has—Raven’s Rock appears to feel the same way, judging by the way they’re mobilizing to crush him. Douka’s won impossible fights before, which makes him a good candidate for myth-making. But despite his impressive reputation, he’s in a tough spot and needs assistance, whether he’ll admit it or not. The General is currently pinned by Raven’s Rock forces in the Caucasus—that’s where the Ghosts come in. The Ghosts are tasked with thinning out the Raven’s Rock forces surrounding the General’s position. But before they assist General Douka, they must reach an observation point to scout Raven’s Rock assets in the area of operations.

The area is crawling with Raven’s Rock troops, so be ready to activate your Optical Camo as soon as the word “Contact” appears across the top of the HUD. Just ahead is a lumber camp guarded by several riflemen. Take cover behind one of the stacks of logs and deploy the UAV to get a closer look. There are a total of ten enemies here, most patrolling around the camp. Fortunately, most of these riflemen are isolated in small groups, which makes them easy to eliminate with a series of sync-shots. Orchestrate the takedowns from the air, with the UAV, picking off two or three enemies with each sync-shot. Start by eliminating the enemies near the large shed on the left, then work your way to the right, across the camp. Before issuing the sync-shot order, always makes sure the marked targets are a safe distance away from their unmarked comrades—you don’t want to risk setting off an alert this early in the mission, especially if you want to complete the Ghostly Recon Tactical challenge, which requires you to reach the observation point without being detected.

After clearing out the lumber camp, Overlord reports that they may have picked up a communication signal from General Douka. From the sounds of it, the General is scrambling to keep his unit alive. If you expended any ammo or items during the assault on the lumber camp, you can resupply from an ammo crate near road. Recall your UAV before proceeding to the next waypoint.

Regroup with your teammates and advance along the road until you spot more enemy troops in the distance. Nine enemies have established a makeshift checkpoint near an abandoned cabin. These enemies block the path leading to the observation point, and there’s no way around—too bad for them. Once again, deploy the UAV and start clearing the area by utilizing sync-shots. Start by taking out the two nearby riflemen along with the two enemies in the cabin that are equipped with LMGs. Follow up by taking out the three riflemen to the right of the cabin—two are stationary and one patrols. Finally, clear the checkpoint by eliminating the two guards standing behind the cabin. When the area is clear, recall your UAV and regroup with your team at the waypoint marker. Along the way, you can resupply from the ammo crate on the left side of the cabin.

Tactical Challenge: Ghostly Recon

Regroup with your team at the cliff behind the cabin and proceed down the adjoining path to the observation point, which is marked by a white ring on the HUD. The hilltop observation point offers a sweeping view of a nearby lumber mill that Raven’s Rock troops are using as a field headquarters. Lacking intel on Raven’s Rock and General Douka’s positions, Ghost Lead feels the enemy field HQ is a good place to start gathering information. If the Ghosts can locate and eliminate Raven’s Rock artillery positions, General Douka will have an easier time maneuvering. Ghost Lead confirms the game plan with Overlord. But Overlord warns that if things get ugly, there’s nothing they can do to help—the area is simply too hot. In other words, the Ghosts are on their own.
