Capture Arms Dealer
The dealer has been spotted in a vehicle on the city streets of Peshawar’s eastern district. When the Ghosts reach the nearby insertion point via Blackhawk, they’re already under fire by hostiles. There’s no need to sneak around anymore, so prepare for an all-out assault. Once you’ve found cover behind a car, immediately get the UAV up in the air to spot hostiles hiding among the congested city streets. The UAV makes it easy to spot hostiles hiding among the cars. In addition to spotting enemies, the UAV is also useful for issuing focus-fire orders. Start by marking enemies nearby, as they pose the biggest threat to your team. By having your team focus their fire on one enemy at a time, you can quickly prioritize and eliminate threats.
Enemy Profile: Sniper
Even after you’ve dealt with the first group of hostiles, always assume you’re under fire while moving through the streets. Fortunately, there is plenty of cover in the street. Instead of moving out of cover and advancing down the street, always utilize the cover swap method to move from one car to the next. This allows you to automatically sprint between covers, greatly minimizing your chances of getting hit by incoming fire. Even if you spot an incoming grenade, don’t pull out of cover manually. Quickly find a nearby vehicle to take cover behind, and use the cover swap feature to move out of the path of the incoming grenade. Moving from one vehicle to the next, work your way toward the intersection at the end of the street. Watch your fi re during this engagement. If you accidentally kill a civilian, the mission ends in failure.
Soon after reaching the intersection, your team comes under attack by more enemies, some of them armed with shotguns. Once again, deploy the UAV in an effort to identify the locations of the hostiles and mark them for your teammates. After using the UAV to pinpoint the locations of hostiles, exit the UAV view and help your team pick off enemies. The UAV continues updating enemy positions in real time if you leave it hovering above the street. There’s no need to be quiet any longer, so don’t bother using a suppressed weapon. You’re better served by a weapon possessing significant stopping power (such as an assault rifle or LMG). Pay close attention to the enemies equipped with shotguns. These guys are very aggressive and will attack at close range, potentially downing you or your teammates with a single shot. Identify and neutralize these shotgun-toting bad guys before they get too close for comfort. If necessary, consider retreating to maintain a safe distance.
Further down the street you encounter a few hostiles armed with RPGs. These enemies are extremely deadly, capable of destroying the very vehicles your team is using for cover—you don’t want to be near a vehicle that explodes! Either use the UAV to track down and mark these guys or simply follow the smoke trail of incoming rockets back to the shooter. Don’t waste any time taking these guys out. As soon as you identify them, take aim through your weapon’s scope and take them down with a headshot.
RPGs aren’t the only thing you need to watch for. You eventually encounter a couple of GAZ-2330 light vehicles, each armed with an automated machine gun turret. You need to destroy these vehicles before you can reach the target vehicles. Fortunately, GAZ-2330s can be destroyed with small arms fire or frag grenades. Mark these vehicles with a focus fire in order to take them out quickly. But when these vehicles open fire, make sure you are behind cover and access the UAV to mark each GAZ-2330. By ordering your team to focus fire on each vehicle, you stand a good chance of taking them out without exposing yourself to incoming fire. Alternately, peek out of cover and fire a quick burst at each vehicle to assist your team. Stay behind cover until both vehicles are destroyed.
Despite the urgency of the chatter, there are no time constraints during this advance. So there’s no need to rush. Stay behind cover and methodically identify and engage enemies as you encounter them. When you’re not shooting enemies yourself, use Sensors and the UAV to reveal the locations of hostiles for your teammates. Swap cover from one vehicle to the next while advancing toward the target vehicle, which is marked with a waypoint. When the word “Clear” appears on the HUD, all enemies have been eliminated.
Unfortunately, the arms dealer has gotten away. There’s nothing in the target vehicle but a beeping cell phone … attached to an explosive device. The Ghosts recognize the booby trap, giving them just a few seconds to get away from the vehicle before the bomb goes off. As the Ghosts regain their composure and brush the dust off themselves, Overlord reports that the dealer has secured a new vehicle and is on the move. You’ll have to track him from the air.
